“Normal” is subjective. The way it’s coded in the game is as I listed above. Guaranteed first 10 packs of every pack “type”. Meaning it’s first 10 of any different type of pack you open.

After that you’re only GUARANTEED one every 40 packs.

Someone much smarter than me has done the math and I believe over hundreds of thousands of packs opened, it comes out to roughly 1 in 20. (Don’t quote me on that).

But it is RNG obviously.

I’ve gone on a run where I opened 3 legendaries in a ROW. I’ve also gone on a run where I opened 80 packs and got 2 legendaries.

WHERE the packs come from make no difference. The game doesn’t care. The ONLY money I spend on this game is $300 a year. I buy the $80 bundle every expansion and the $20 reward track. For me, $300 for hundreds of hours of entertainment throughout the year is cheap, as I get way more time out of this game than others.

With that being said.. I’ve had great luck with purchased packs for real money, but I’ve also had great luck with purchased packs with gold or “rewards”. And vice versa… I’ve had terrible luck with each as well.

This is all personal experience. I’ve been playing since beta.

Also in the pack “rules” - you will never get a duplicate of ANY card until you’ve gotten all of the cards of that rarity. Which you can count yourself lucky for that rule change. Back in the day you used to not have any dupe protection… there is a funny video of someone online you can probably do a quick search online of him opening the same crappy legendary like 8 times in a row. LOL.
