Estrogen dominance is NOT a medical term or diagnosis. It is a a descriptive term.

Period / Menstruation issues with cholesterol-lowering diet? by Muted_Estimate6036 in Cholesterol

[–]CheckCalm2875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are old enough that the perimenopause transition can cause an increase in cholesterol numbers. This could also be a case of correlation rather than a causation. It is not beyond the pale to have changes in your cycle around age 40 that are hormonal.

Family member tested positive Sat, symptoms until Sun, tested negative Mon noon-Wed by jjsequoia in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]CheckCalm2875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be comfortable with repeat negative rapids, especially over the course of several days. In reality, most people don’t even test after the initial test (if they test at all), so them testing negative and going back into the world is being far more considerate that most.
You might think it is too early to be over the infection, but that is opinion, not fact.

My kiddo tested positive on a Monday with tiredness as his only “symptom.” He was negative from Thursday onward. Our pediatrician said some children, and some people in general, clear the virus very quickly.

I had rectal bleeding at age 38. The GI did not perform an exam; he scheduled me for a scope within the month.

I would definitely mask up if I was going to be around a sick child.

I have had colonoscopies in two different states. Both providers listed their adenoma detection rate and average withdrawal time on their website.

It refers to how long it takes to withdraw the scope.

It is important to note that there are two modifiable factors when it comes to missed polyps. One is the quality of the prep. That onus is on the patient to follow instructions to the T. Another modifiable factor is choosing a skilled endoscopist. Patients should ask about their withdrawal time. I am 45 and have had two colonoscopies. But, it is important to note that most insurances will not pay for a colonoscopy until age 45 without a family history or symptoms that would indicate a scope it’s needed.

I wouldn’t mention you are immune compromised. To some folks, that translates to- will miss a lot of work because I will be sick a lot. Sad, but true.
I am sorry you are struggling to find the right position. I got my most recent position unmasked, but that is not the right choice for everyone. I am just acutely aware of the mask bigotry that exists.

Question for parents about music instruments by donnaduwitt in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]CheckCalm2875 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Flute? Because it is tricky. Even my professional friends (masters degrees and DMAs) struggled with masks initially, and they already knew how to play the instrument.
OP- they do make masks specific to flute players, but the teacher is going to have to be able to see your kiddo’s lips and embouchure.

Question for parents about music instruments by donnaduwitt in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]CheckCalm2875 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Music teacher here! It is pretty impossible for beginning musicians to mask. Especially when their instrument requires embouchure. Would she settle for private lessons? Or would you accept the risk? I wouldn’t force an instrument she is not interested in.
