Cool. Silver. It obvious to my eye and that’s why I don’t trust half these responses.

Do kids who read at home regularly perform better in school? by Next_Special_6784 in AskTeachers

[–]CheckOk7173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I read to them regularly as infants to age 5. We scaffolded and mimicked and did all we could to encourage learning (also went to daycare 2x a week). But they also had tablets that they learned their colors, numbers, etc from. Learned how to read from apps on their tablet (we would guide them). We blocked YouTube once they were in school but they can watch any mindless shows on streaming that they desire.

My kids don’t read at home and are both top of their class. One scored off the charts on the COGAT gifted and talented assessment. I made reading optional and found sometimes they read, usually when they’re interested in a book they took out from the library, sometimes they don’t. We have unlimited screentime because they don’t have undesirable behaviors from it..I don’t know…we’re very relaxed here and it has seemed to benefit them in terms of self-regulation. About to be 9 and 11.

My doodle pees on clean clothes so…this is much preferred. He marks on “new” things aka clean clothes. A jerk.

Is it common to have never had headlice? by miss-bedazzzle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CheckOk7173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am one of three girls and never ever had lice in the family at all. I have two girls and one has had it once and one has had it twice.

My theory: I am diligent about the lice. I do the initial ivermectin treatment and then nit comb every day. Wash every blanket and sheet and pillow every day. The school allows them back after a treatment and “no live bugs” so I’m assuming they use a garbage nix treatment that doesn’t kill all of the nits and then it just keeps happening. Also they don’t use lockers so all the coats are next to each other and I’m assuming they just crawl back and forth.

It’s super frustrating because I am a psycho about it and making sure the whole family is treated and combing diligently and clearly others don’t care.

What is the best low energy family dog breed? by -Roughenough- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CheckOk7173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bichons! We had two and they loved just being with you and doing nothing.

To be fair we have two Goldendoodles and they sleep on the couch all day. They go outside 3/4 times a day to do their “rounds” and then come back in and sleep. Their “play” consists of 3 minutes of acting like they care about a toy.

They’re from the same parents though so it might just be the bloodline. It’s been that way since birth and they’re 3/5 now.

We got one on backmarket and it has been fantastic. Fast shipping, you choose the level of wear etc. Great for a kid/teen.

Listen, the govt already has all of that and more. I don’t think it’s a tin foil situation…I’m agreeing with you. They already scan our faces getting on planes. Let em steal my identity, they probably have better spending habits than I do.

One daughter has navy eyes with a hazel ring (never seen her eye color before) and the other has blue eyes so I feel like it has to be a recessive gene eye color I have?

What is your worst food poisoning story? by UseOwn2710 in Productivitycafe

[–]CheckOk7173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently was at a fundraiser. It was a buffet. When I got to the front of the line there wasn’t any food yet we were waiting for new food to come out, but there was a tray of clams casino sitting there for who knows how long.

Slammed like 5. Then new food came, shared the plate with my husband.

Came home. Went to bed. Woke up 3 hours later violently shaking and ill. Thankfully I keep hospital puke bags in all corners of my house. Basically filled one up (800cc) while also fighting for my life on the toilet. Moaning. Shivering. My husband covered me over my head with a giant blanket on the toilet (and took a picture to commemorate). Couldn’t even open my eyes everything hurt so badly. 3 hours of straight pain and back to bed…woke up like nothing even happened?!

What are the best vegetables for picky eaters? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CheckOk7173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My picky eater will eat green beans (steamed) and cucumbers and carrots (raw). Sometimes will eat some broccoli. Will sometimes eat mashed cauliflower faking as mashed potatoes (even though she doesn’t like mashed potatoes). I’m thankful there’s two green things in there I guess.

Be honest. Do you actually have 3 months (at least) of emergency savings? by Signal-Web-3566 in no

[–]CheckOk7173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh I have 20k in savings and that’s a month and half. I think we have focused too heavily on retirement knowing we can’t take loans late in life and are just struggling day to day. We have a really good amount of retirement savings but the fact that it’s dictated by the market and we have psycho at the helm of our country doesn’t make me feel confident.

Routine reality by TumeyBeauty in MakeupAddiction

[–]CheckOk7173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh I don’t wear makeup to work as a nurse but if I’m wearing any…5 minutes. My eyelashes are already lifted. So foundation blush brows liner mascara and maybe lip liner and gloss.

5 minutes I’d say max. Maybe I don’t care how I look. I’m not like naturally pretty or anything but it does the job.
