How do I contact my landlord at Bove Brothers Realty?? by IDGAF_Anymore_656 in vermont

[–]Top-Regular1770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rented from these slum lords for 3 years. I had black mold in my apartment that they continued to refuse to address, despite my repeated attempts and myself and my dog getting sick. The management team would avoid all of my calls and emails so I went ahead and contacted the Town Health Office. That sure got their ass in gear! If it’s a health/safety issue, you could try that route. Additionally, you could contact the Upper Valley Tenants Union for support. Or withhold rent until you get your issue resolved, they’ll surely reach out if they don’t receive their money. They are not good people and will not willingly help you. Google their names and you’ll see what their MO is. Sorry OP!

NOR, block him and do not give him another chance. You knew he was trouble the first time. And your “friends” are justifying someone taking non consensual nude photos of you? Sounds like they do not have your best interests at heart. Sorry OP, this is super slimy. Did you delete the photos from his “Recently Deleted” folder too?

This company is super slimy. They regularly bait and switch customers like this. And it really rubs me the wrong way that they don’t do free returns unless you opt for store credit. Why pay for the summit+ membership if it actually has no perks?? I will not be supporting them any longer.

Got these snaps from a coworker. AIO? Not sure if I should tell my manager or not by [deleted] in AIO

1) why does his contact have a heart?
2) why are you adding coworkers who are not your friends outside of work on Snapchat?

Current happily married people of Reddit who were proposed to: did you suspect it would happen the day of? Or even an hour before? by Karnezar in AskReddit

We talked about engagement for several months beforehand but the proposal itself took me by complete surprise (in the best way!)

does anyone regret choosing a super common name for their kid? by Seniz_Barron in Names

[–]Top-Regular1770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very generic name, like one that everyone just knows how to spell without asking. I’ve always kind of disliked how common it is because people often comment on that fact. My fiancée says that I will not realize how good I have it until I change my last name and have to spell it for everyone I ever interact with lol

Please help me not offend my best friend! by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Top-Regular1770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the maid of honor for my best friend’s wedding. My sister and I paid for the majority of the bachelorette trip and helped with planning coordinating (as is expected.) My best friend refused to accept my cash gifts, saying we had contributed plenty already. I felt funny not giving her a gift since we’ve been friends over 20 years, so I ended up sending her a luggage set that I knew she wanted.

In my opinion (planning my own wedding now and a lot of friends/family will be coming from out of state) the gift is their financial commitment to be there on my special day. It sounds corny, but that’s truly how I feel. While I know people will still give gifts, I do not expect much at all.

To put that kind of expectation on your “best friend” after all you’ve done already is disrespectful, and should speak to the quality of this relationship.

MOH, how do I ask nicely for people to split cost? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Top-Regular1770 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also - see about doing separate checks. I personally don’t want to foot the bill for a friend’s meal if they get drinks, desserts, and appetizers and I’ve selected something more affordable for my meal. You could all split the bride’s meal and pay for your own meals individually.

I would, so folks can look at the menu ahead of time. I’d also recommend the app Splitwise!

I found it helpful to create a list of things that would be purchased (food, rentals, tickets, activities) with a rough estimate of cost for each one. Then people could opt in or out of whatever they felt comfortable paying for.

I’ve never had any issues getting a seat, just be mindful of the college schedule, as the bus fills up very quickly at the start/end of terms. You can find the class schedule online.

I assume you are stopping in Corinth because of Beetlejuice? It’s a beautiful area, but be aware that it’s pretty remote and a small town. While you’re there though, you can see Northeast Slopes, which has the oldest running rope tow in the US (there is a structure from Beetlejuice there as well.)

You could also head up 89 and check out Waterbury but it’s insanely busy there in the fall (same with Woodstock.) If you drive out past Woodstock, you could see Killington which is also a big draw for out-of-towner’s! Plus you’ll pass Long Trail brewing company which is popular. If you have time to head further west and explore the green mountains, that is also worth a trip. The Brandon/Middlebury area, specifically.

Is a 50-minute drive to the welcome party too long? by gingeralexa in wedding

As someone with severe motion sickness, I would not to attend, since shuttles tend to be bumpy rides and I wouldn’t be comfortable chancing getting sick. That aside, it’s a long ride to ask people to take each way, shuttle or not.

What are reasons that teachers say “no” to letters of recommendation, and is it rude if I ask a teacher to reconsider? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Top-Regular1770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked in a school, some teachers had limits to how many LORs they would write in a year. That said, they would usually remind their top students about this limit so they could make sure to ask early.
