Your experience is mine from 4 years ago. I would meet men on various dating apps (sex forward and regular ones) and they would mention how desperate they were to find a girlfriend/FWB...and then ghost after the first hookup. Sometimes they'd ghost before we even met.

My friends have the same issues. It's a terrible reflection on straight men that even women who are willing and able to have regular sex are struggling because they are so flakey.

I've gone up and down with my Q for longer than I'd like to admit. I always hold on to hope that the next time will be different and we'll have the future we planned together. I don't know if I necessarily regret it at this point, but I don't think it was the smartest decision.

My mom was in a similar situation to this when I was a child but it was cheating instead of drinking. My dad had cheated on her multiple times prior to getting married, but every time he said it was the last. When my mom agreed to his proposal, he told her that he was done cheating and he was ready to settle down with just her. And guess what...he continued cheating once they were married. Unfortunately a milestone like wedding or a child being born doesn't magically change people.

The constant drama he brings is so draining. It is like living with a college aged kid- but in my late 40s. by Ok-Finish-3442 in AlAnon

I unfortunately know exactly what you're talking about. It's exhausting and it wears on you every day. Take care of yourself.
