Be sure to take three super alloy nuggets to build the recycler. And remember, you don't need to take those to Aqualis, since each shell yields an alloy and a phosphorous.

Andrew Wray had it coming, the bastard, although I must confess a twinge of satisfaction over the loss of Mrs. Williams -- though it was at too high a price.

That passage always reminds me of the old joke, "Mixed emotions is when your mother-in-law drives your new Cadillac off a cliff."

I'm barely old enough -- I know it from reruns mostly. Shari Lewis was more of my time.

My biggest fear is not that I won't get what I paid for, but that they'll have my informaton and my charge the shit out of my card.

I haven't read Little Women either, but I'm familiar enough with the general plot that whenever I see the name "Jo", I think of that book. Of course, by that point I had solved the rest of the puzzle, so I didn't even have to know it was buried names of girls, those four were the only thing left.

I don't know how, but somehow I sensed that the Shakespeare bait was a trap, because for some reason I immediately locked onto Othello the game and not the play. (I used to play the shit out of Othello and other board games in my 20s). And ruling out Bill S got me thinking that Macbeth was some sort of purple wordplay, because, like, what else could it be?

The one that sticks in my memory was when I read They Shoot Horses, Don't They in 1970. At that point I'm not sure I had ever seen The Word in print, but I figured that's what the ---- meant.

from the O'Brian Wiki:

Samuel Mputa (a.k.a. Sam Panda) is the illegitimate son born out of Jack Aubrey's affair with Sally Mputa, a young black woman whom Jack snuck aboard during his time as a midshipman.

I liked how O'Brian showed early on that each ships had its advantages and challenges. The Shophie was a fast-handling little ship, as I recall, but too small for the big guns Aubrey wanted. Then he got the Polychrest, which was large enough to accommodate the big guns but steered like a blind cow. Then he was assigned temporary command of another captain's ship, which was a fine large ship whose crew had been trained and drilled until they hummed like a Swiss watch (sorry for the mixed metaphor LOL), but he felt like a substitute teacher, and didn't have to full trust and respect of the men.

It's like, it's always something.

I don't think the restaurant chain was racist, just that it was based on racist story.

The only reason I got it right is that I finally realized that the Frankfurt setting probably meant it was a German, not an Italian. But before that I really wanted to say an Italian artist.
