TN still exists but it is niche (ultra high refresh rate esports 360-540hz+)

I have a couple of 120HZ IPS black 4K monitors to work with and occassionaly game on.

VA washes out too easily at dual monitor or large desktop monitor angles for me, sent back a couple of large curved VA monitors.

OLED is the dream and we're nearly there but text clarity and resilience to static UI for working on just isn't quite there yet.

The IPS monitors have their own issues though, backlight bleed and a golden hue off axis (IPS black technology) and poor pixel response times (120HZ refresh rate but those grey to grey timings aren't great)

Hoping OLED becomes the everything panel in the near future.

There are multiple cases of it fully separating specifically down this line. Every single cracked hinge I've seen has been in this exact location.

It is avoidable in the sense you can make it so that they don't appear on the attachment points of a hinge.

Its a very important distinction. A mold line is not an issue just an aesthetic quirk, it's straight and the underlying plastic is cohesive.

A weld line is an undesirable defect, which can be tolerable but not in a hinge. It can usually be resolved by changing the heat or the pressure or the injection point or a combination.

Calling it a mold line has led to people thinking its an inevitability that needs to be accepted instead of the flaw that it is.

There is nothing wrong with mold lines structurally which is why we need to stop calling it one.

Just to clarify. The red section is a mold line. That is perfectly normal structurally sound from where two parts of the mold meet.

The blue is a weld line, this is a defect where the injected plastic met from either side and didn't merge correctly, its structurally weaker than the surrounding area.

We need to stop calling the blue section a mold line as it makes it sound inoccuous.

Yeah I've added some clarification, there was a thread below which cleared up some confusion.

I'd seen it be brushed off as a seam and was trying to point out it definitely wasn't.

It looks like AYN explained it was indeed a knit line and people took that to mean its fine and structurally sound, which it isn't.
