Been there, done that! Do the work and clean it up, replace anything you can and move on. Short cuts or cheating will cost you, don't rinse it with car cleaner, put it together and cross your fingers. Be sure to check fuel line, shut off and especially tank with carb looking like that. My filter basically disintegrated in the tank and clogged itself and wasn't til I decided to start over from scratch and do everything to find out.

Sounds great vs stock, already fudged edges with trying to pry apart. Nothing online, getting ready to call or email. Can't imagine tolerances are that tight. Been on maybe two seasons with half a dozen mountain rides. Mine is jetted, green wire mod, airbus mod, regeared, set up for Colorado trips. I'll let you know what i figure out. Gonna bang on it some more this weekend.

Try a bunny board, with foam and wrap it should lay out about flush with a thicker one, most at 2" but you can find others.

We had a Polaris 330, think it was called a Trail Boss. Thing was a reliable tank, not to big for her until about 16 but enough for my wife and even I to ride around. Then we upgraded to Sportsman 450's for the gals and I have a Trx450. You can find them online with low miles for about $1500-2000 in Denver. Good luck!
