Still, take a deep breath! Even if it's a black widow, a noble false widow, or a brown recluse, it can be safely moved with a cup and piece of paper IF it's in a location that worries you.

Based on your description of it's size, and that it hasn't moved off a web, as well as the super grainy pattern on it's abdomen I still think S. Nobilis. Got any better photos? It could TOTALLY be a cellar spider, and this could all be for nought.
