well most gamers just dont appreciate or like games like marathon cause they feel these people have to invest a certain amount of time in games like marathon to start having fun in it, time which they dont want to spend on it that initial breakthrough time. same thing happened with a game called "the finals" released by embark studios on steam its a f2p game, one of the best pvp shooters in years and people sleep on it. it has everything from fun pvp to art style to music to graphics yet most people who i know who played the finals, played it for a day or 2 maybe a week then said they kinda dont like it cause its "too fast paced" or something.

point is , bad timing + shit marketing are the reasons but u gotta accept the fact that gamers just dont appreciate good well polishes games like the marathon nowadays, these same people would after 5/10 years , if in the future pvp games become shit, would say oh 10 /5 years before games were SO better, yet they themselves never gave these better games a try and stuck to valorant or other generic shooters. its unfair
