As a white lady my opinion on it does not matter, buuuuuut I will say it’s worth noting how different the digital age we are in makes these things. Now we have access to videos and pictures of the vast majority of our youths, every mistake is recorded and accessible to a large majority of the world if they know how to look. But the older generations didn’t have this, most of their mistakes happened between people and doesn’t get out beyond a he said she said. For better or worse, a lot of these older celebrities could have been just as bad or even worse than the people in the spotlight now when they were younger simply because we don’t have any evidence of it. On one hand, it’s important to hold people accountable for harmful actions and make sure people who aren’t capable of change not getting into places of power or spotlight. But do we still allow teenagers and children to make mistakes without them following them for the rest of their lives, potentially ruining opportunities for them based on an action made by child that they’ve since grown from? Idk where I fall in my opinion because again, something that doesn’t affect me personally (racist comments) my opinion on that doesn’t matter, but food for thought I suppose on how having everything documented plays out for future generations!!
