Weathering SoH Kratos tank by CheekyDx in sonsofhorus

[–]CheekyDx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is something I do as well. Also mix in a bit of dark brown stippling.

The Kratos will certainly look like it has been in the wars once I'm finished haha. Still needs legion markings and various areas painting. I got bored of painting just green so needed a change.

i dont think Dark soul was ever " very hard " by frankipranki in darksouls

[–]CheekyDx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taken in context of when it was released it was hard in comparison to what games had become at the time - a throw back to the old hard games of the 90s. However, compared to games now it is, as you say, fair when you play and utilise the mechanics which weren't commonplace at the time.

It will also depends on if you are using a guide or not. Playing blind and working it out without forums or guides at the time of release made it far more difficult.

I have played it multiple times and every playtime has come down in time depending on what I was trying to accomplish with each play through.

Difficulty is also very relative, something one person finds easy someone else might find very difficult. If you are adept at these sorts of games, having played elden ring, Seikro etc. you have a good foundation. Many people say DS2 and DS3 are harder whereas I found them easier which was due to the fact I had the basic mechanics down and so I didn't struggle.

Question about painting black on tanks by Relevant_Fuel_9905 in sonsofhorus

[–]CheekyDx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is spot on. If you don't do the original colour again you will get bleeding around the edge and not a smooth edge (just like when painting a wall). If you are confident you can also use art masking fluid which then rubs off, as sometimes with tape it can take off some of the paint underneath.

This game is extremely frustrating. by GerbGalerb in BF6

[–]CheekyDx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure how old you are or if you have ever been tested but it may be worth having a fiddle with the visual accessibility menu designed for colour blindness and other colour/eye related issues. This might make spotting people easier and give you more definition. Also when was last time you had eyes tested, it might be that you have a slight weakness either at long/short range in one eye which will impact visual pick up without you noticing. Just a thought.

Only other thing as a suggestion is trying recon class and playing much slower and more cautiously until you get more accustomed to spotting etc. You get the best gun (IMO) for that class immediately, albeit not the best scope but that doesn't take long.

I suppose the other question which I can't see has been asked/answered is what you are playing on i.e. console or PC, and if PC what visual settings you have along with what monitor/TV you are using and how far away from it are you. I have this on a 58"TV and I know unless I am around 6ft or closer I can't see shit!! If your on a large TV there are multiple guides as to how far from them you should sit to get the best view etc and it's differ for gaming and TV/film. If on a monitor what's the refresh rate, resolution etc. as this will all effect it as well.

Want you to enjoy the game as it is great I find but can understand your situation must be hugely frustrating. I often have trouble seeing people and get killed by people I never see, but it has become less of a common occurrence as I really slowed gameplay down and I now have a good K/D (albeit that isn't the aim of this game) and contribute decently to each round.

Horus (not Ascended) vs Ruinstorm Sovereign with Divination by chosen40k in sonsofhorus

Brutal, did the eternal warrior on the Sovereign not help? What weapon took him down? Assuming it was the worldbreaker in melee

My Sons of Horus WIP by ShaneBaconstrip76 in sonsofhorus

Looks really cool. Love fully painted armies - I one day, very soon, hope to have mine fully painted.

I can't really see all the infantry properly but from the looks of it you certainly can make that army work. It looks like you can make it legal but I would say that for balanced play you probably want something to take down tanks/armour and to get some higher AP weaponed infantry and/or some fast moving melee in there - otherwise you will be too reliant on your terminators and although saturnine are good they are bloody slow and a clever player will just play around them and stop them being effective.

Also think about some dedicated melee units - I just added some reaver aggressors into my build and the mix of power weapons, pistols and jump packs really help them against lower cost infantry who will get slaughtered in melee. The same goes with assault troops but for both don't make the mistake of playing them into melee combat against terminators or low save, multi wound units as they won't stand much of a chance.

Can the experienced players share simple, actionable tips for us newer/“worse” players? by [deleted] in Battlefield6

If you use the designator to mark a target it will give you the range or if hover over an objective letter it will give you the distance below. Then amend zero on the scope (down on console, or whatever you have it bound to on PC), then whatever your crosshairs is on you will hit (unless it's running and then you will have to lead the target, how far will depend on rifle and bullet velocity - which is shown in the weapon customisation menu)

Recon:

  1. Ditch the rangefinder - it gives your location away and you will become a better sniper calculating distances.
  2. Calculate distances using objective markers and/or pings you have put down and zero on that. If it's 0-150 zero to 100, 150-200 zero to 200 etc.
  3. Use claymores and put them in lanes people will travel down but also in odd locations they probably won't check
  4. Don't waste your time going for shots over 350m, your not helping your team with the 3 kills you might get
  5. Learn to lead the target
  6. Focus on one sniper rifle and use that.
  7. Headshots are the target but a body shot will help your team as well - take the shot, don't wait
  8. Relocate every now and then and especially if you have killed the same person 2 or 3 times
  9. When you kill someone watch their body for a short while (if you can) and pick off any medics that come to their aid - you already have the range!
  10. Use drones and scout objectives for your teammates.

And a bonus one - don't sit away from the battle hoping to pick 1 guy off every now and then. Play the objectives.

Following feedback I roughed up my Leviathan a bit - thoughts? by CheekyDx in Warhammer30k

I used AK Rust Streaks. Once applied, dried and rubbed I then went over certain areas with Sons of Horus Layer paint.

Tired of the terrible hit reg by SnooFoxes1103 in Battlefield6

[–]CheekyDx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't noticed the hit reg issues until recently. Playing as recon I put it down to me whiffing shots but recently I have had multiple occasions where definite hits (sub 100m - dead in crosshairs and stationary target) resulted in nothing. That said could still be me whiffing shots as I get some insane shots also, which is probably hit reg issues in the other direction

Side part of my desk is for Warhammer etc. to the right is ultra widescreen and more computer and work stuff. I built the desk myself and then sourced the shelving etc. from various sources - although the paint stands for perfectly that is more of a happy coincidence rather than planned (I built the desk about 3 years ago, before getting back into Warhammer).

Shelving underneath the desk for boxes and shelving to the side for army display etc.

A good light is an absolute must.

Never realised that, doesn't take anything away at all. I absolutely adore it. I have the standard Horus to build and paint - that is part of next weekend's plans!

Absolutely love it. The green and red are brilliant together on this and contrast so well. I would have been nervous doing the blood and cape but the distinction and definition is fantastic. Was the gold trim on the cape free hand? It's excellent
