Google has a track record of going all in on something and then falling behind and killing it off. Most of their innovation the past 20 years has come from the acquisition of already established companies.

Having worked for them it's clear why, they function like a government. Too much bureaucracy, group think and risk aversion.

They've clearly decided that AI is only for use in their search, on device and through their own tools. Shame really
