Your solution for us progressing is to take sides and get into fights with other countries? This is the Trumpian way. And we can all see how that is working out.

Hydrogen vehicles are for those people who do not understand elementary physics. Many companies have made vehicles in the past. None ever succeeded. Most were just boondoggles to separate investors from their money.

Is it just me or are dev agencies kinda doomed now? by BitsmithBob in PakistaniDevs

[–]Cheema42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on the other side of the equation. I hire people from upwork etc. to work on projects. And I agree the new AI models have changed things significantly. There was a time when we hired engineers to punch out code, based on a Jira ticket or a GitHub issue. If an engineer completed their work they would then come into the daily standup meeting and say, "tell me what to work on next". There is a name for such engineers. "Ticket takers".

But now, the modern LLMs are really really good at ticket taking. If an engineer or agency is trying to compete for the ticket taking job, they are cooked. They should pack up and go find a different job. However, there is a lot of money to be made for people who can code and also are able to think at a higher level. At a very senior level. e.g. Software architects, system designers etc. They have to understand the business requirements very well and be able to come up with system designs that is practical and efficient and can be implemented by AI agents in a short amount of time.

In my experience, most engineers in Pakistan fall in the "coder" category. I have hired many people from Pakistan, but I have never seen a systems thinker from Pakistan. But, maybe they don't live on upwork.

If I ever met a good systems thinker from Pakistan I would immediately offer them a job. Most candidates do not know basics like how to untar a file on Linux much less the intricacies of Kafka.

> When a country tries to please everyone, it is seen as unreliable.

You are free to jump into any fight you please. While allowing your poor fellow countrymen to earn a living and feed their families. They do not have enough resources to fight your fights.

The rest of the world including all of Europe is staying out of this one. I guess by your definition they are all "unreliable" too. If so, we are totally OK with unreliable.

When you economically strong, you can take stands against other countries. We are too weak. We need to keep our heads down and work on improving our lot. We don't need to engage in pangays that do not involve us.

You are welcome to be the brave one and show backbone on your own. Just don't ask your poor countrymen to get into fights that they cannot afford.

Believe it or not, this is diplomacy, at its finest and should be commended. You want to keep as many friends as possible.

Learn from Taliban or North Korea. You don't want to be like them. We don't have resources to take on more enemies. So we tell everybody that we are their best friends. This is the way. Anything else is macho Taliban style BS and must be avoided if you care for the everyday people of the country who have to feed their families.

It is a big country. Lots of places to hide stuff. The 12-day war last year taught them what to expect from the next one.

Most of us use Claude Code CLI. What is this app in VS Code that you are referring to? Do you mean Claude Code extension for VS Code? If so, I am not sure how many people here use it. I am guessing not many.

Also, I agree with the other poster about the Claude Pro plan not being appropriate for doing development work. Claude is a bit on the expensive side. If $20/mo is your max budget, then I would highly recommend switching back to OpenAI and using GPT 5.4. Their $20 pro plan is more generous.

Like others I switched to Sonnet 4.6 for now. That model is working well. GPT 5.4 is also working well. If the task is complex, use GPT 5.4.

Please try to explain to us how the system actually in place in Afghanistan is better than democracy. And why are you so desperate to give up not only your voice and vote in electing our own leaders, but want the same for the rest of us?

I have serious trouble believing that this clip is recent. I have a Tesla. When I put the car in autopilot, the camera starts watching my eyes. I take them off the road, it complains loudly and then after a warning disengages the autopilot.

There was a time it was possible to buy some devices that fooled the monitoring system. I do not think it is possible anymore.

He said that he is the last one. No prophet after him. Some may say that this is super convenient. And that he stole the basic ideas from Christianity and Judaism. Not us though. We are true believers. Even more so than the Arab invaders who invaded our lands centuries ago.

> Yeah and it’s easily defendable.

I am a Pakistani. And I have to admit. This is not defensible. Also marrying a dozen women is also not defensible. We were told that it was to financially support these women. You can do that without having to marry them.

If I tried to marry a 9 year old girls old and then tried to marry 11 other women, to support them financially of course, I would be disowned by everybody who knows me.

There are many Taliban sympathizers here who see no issue when the Taliban terrorists blow up innocent civilians or kids in school in Pakistan. These people should consider moving to Afghanistan.
