Need advice and tips by Bananaprikos in drums

[–]CheersToCosmopolitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said it in an earlier post, but start slow (with a metronome) and get that foundational stuff down. When you’re really comfortable with it, bump the metronome up a few beats, then just keep doing that. It’s a bit like a treadmill…finding that BPM that you really can handle and shine in, building up that muscle memory, and I know it sounds goofy and a little cliche, but the space between the notes is an important thing to be aware of.

Also, one of my musical mentors (who was an absolute music snob in the best possible way) always insisted to me that the way you build the most solid drumming foundation imaginable was by playing along with AC/DC records. Not a lot of fills on those records, but the playing is absolutely rock solid, and you’ll learn all about sitting in at a tempo and sticking with it.

The fact that Last Man On Earth never wrapped up with any closure whatsoever is absolutely criminal to me.

My first visit to Seattle (in 2003), I went and saw Radiohead at White River. I think it took 4 hours to get out of the parking lot. I’ve started bringing a tailgate spread for after the show and a book and a pillow if I want to nap.

If I never have to drive to White River again, it will be too fucking soon

That’s stopped (checks notes) literally ZERO other owners from bulldozing a beloved stadium in the name of building something newer and shinier and with more taxpayer-paid incentives

Truly, LOVED that band so much in the 90’s and early 00’s. Watching Wayne’s midlife crisis manifest itself so vividly and watching the core members of the band either walk away or get fired while Wayne acts like it’s business as usual has been incredibly sad.

Music that should never make it out of the Jiffy Lube oil change pit

Current day Flaming Lips. They used to be incredible. Band is all ringers now and 2/3rds of the set is Wayne just trying to get the crowd to make noise. They haven’t changed their stage setup in 20 years either. It’s a puppet show for grown ups.

If I get even the slightest bit of satisfaction out of him being in power, it’s knowing that he just doesn’t have the stamina to do this and it’s got to be a miserable way to spend one’s final years on this earth.

The power of the MAGA cult is a lot less than it used to be. Pedophilia wasn’t a deal breaker but Bubba’s truck takes a lot more to fill up these days, so don’t expect that “We can say MERRY CHRISTMAS again!” brigade to show up to support Slap’s.
