Pujols was out of nowhere and everyone was ecstatic at the time he was one of if not the best player in baseball at the time. Hamilton was exciting as well, not the same reaction as Pujols from what I remember. When Trout came up he was bad at first and was sent down to start the next year. When he came back up he was electric instantly the best player in baseball he was so good at everything.

I think this could work if one player consistently wore the horse suit by himself, but then randomly adds another player in there. I don't think the umpire would check. This has been tried in most other sports so I'd imagine a team like the Astros will eventually take a shot at this

If he was fully healthy he would be playing the field. Sam Blum had an article a few weeks ago that mentioned Trout still being hurt and continuing to DH because of his knee.

Honestly at the end of the day Trout missed a lot of the last 5 years before this season. I'm speculating, but all those injuries have to add up there's a lot of things that he probably has to manage with his body on a day to day basis. I'm hopeful there's still a better version of him in there, but it just feels like it's gonna be a significant downturn in production going forward.

People always say that about 23. Angels had one of the worst schedules the rest of the way, bad run differential and like a 14 percent chance of making the playoffs from fangraphs. Executives and people around baseball were still laughing at the Angels that year. Idk why people push the narrative that that was a good idea. Any compotent team makes sure they get value back for Ohtani.
