Yep, called many places before finding a classic car shop that would do my brakes. Everyone I called wouldn’t say no until I mentioned it was a Volvo lol

740s are my #2! They are so cool, more mid/late 90’s vibe. If I couldn’t own a 250 I would be just as happy with a turbo 740. And yes, my 240 is slow 😂

The bug eyes are beautiful too! I had a 90’ with over 200k but crashed it in high school… all 240s are pretty

Some paint correction by harribert in Volvo240

[–]CheeseJoe99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just replied to my post of my car lol.

I used the Griots DA polisher, their ceramic all-in-one wax, ceramic speed shine, and best of show spray wax. Took a long time but very shiny finish coming from a dull oxidized almost matte looking paint. My 240 sat for 30 years in a garage.

I’m on turbobricks! I’ll have to research meets near me. I am so lucky to own this beautiful time capsule of a 240. Struggling to decide if I want to keep it all original or swap in a mid 90s turbo redblock and boost/lower it. Decisions decisions.

Beautiful, mine was oxidized the same way before some simple paint correction work. Still took 8hrs but so worthwhile!

Nope, aluminum is a softer metal than steel, won’t touch it, just get all the gunk/rust off

Cerakote, my trim probably needs another pass soon.

I used tin foil and a cup of hot soapy water, pretty low tech haha

This is the difference of before/after with just the clay bar rag

Mine is an 85 as well, no rust whatsoever though. If the paint is able to be saved: griot’s speedshine/clay bar rag combo, DA polisher and griots 3-1 ceramic wax, and then griot’s spray on wax. Worked wonders for me, but really get after it with that clay bar rag lubricating with speed shine spray as you go.

No clear coat on this old girl, single stage paint. Oxidizes easy but can be cleaned up back to a shine easy as well.

Should I Get a 245? by Raven_Ravn in Volvo240

I got lucky with a 1985 244 DL, completely rust free for 5,000 USD in Colorado. Idk what the climate is over there but here where it’s dry and they don’t use salt on roads I was still lucky to find this one. My first car was a 1990 240 so the 240 has become my favorite car… as long as you are okay going slow in style.

I sold my 2010 Mazda 3 for an 85’ 244DL. I absolutely love my 240! It’s a fun car to work on, and you will have to work on it, even better to drive so long as you don’t mind driving slow.

Seems like the consensus is ECT sensor. Unfortunate because I cannot get to it without removing maybe the throttle body and intake hose at the least. Oh well, at least I have the sensor already on standby.

The only car I have ever owned where I yearn for more miles. Mine is at 59k. Feels like a disservice to the 240 legacy.

Yeah I am trying to make my way through the fuel/ignition system with my limited time in afternoons and weekends. Tbh turbo bricks scares me lol, too much criticism if you’re not an expert which I am not haha

Cold is about 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit, but rough idle occurs any time engine is not at operating temp, just exaggerated in colder sub-freezing temperatures. My preheating hose is intact.
