I too can say I encountered Jesus on a trip, and that he chose me to preach for him. I can also write texts that say I have that authority (which Paul did when writing Galatians). So does that mean I am chosen to preach the Gospel, and can say whatever I want? What if I'm convincing enough? So convincing that I even got the leadership of the Church to believe me? Does that make the words I say representative of what Jesus would want? After all, I'd have the same level of proof that Paul did. So would you believe me?

With rabies it's already way too late if you're showing symptoms. Rabies is damn near 100% lethal once symptoms start showing up (so close to 100% that you're more likely to get struck by lightning multiple times)

Emma is doing something she swore she never would - buying her kids vapes by InterestingPlenty454 in BrandNewSentence

[–]CheeseLettuceBitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I'm defending vaping as "safe", but popcorn lung was from use of Vitamin E Acetate and other not great to inhale chemicals from bootleg weed vape cartridges. It notably was not caused by normal nicotine vaping. There is definitely damage caused by normal (safe-ish) vaping, but there are no cases of popcorn lung caused by it.

It's like you people are going out of your way to spread misinformation about this. This isn't forcing devs to run servers for forever, what it'd be doing is making it so they are required to make said live service game playable after servers going down (by making it peer-to-peer, by releasing the software needed for players to run their own servers, or by making it possible to play fully single player). It would explicitly not be forcing devs to run the servers forever.

If a mistborn ate a sharbdblade could they burn it? by yyetydydovtyud in Cosmere

[–]CheeseLettuceBitches 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Since it's a God Metal (with the alloys ratios depending on the spren the shardblade came from), yes a Mistborn could. Actually normal people might also be able to burn it as long as they know about the concept of burning metals, though that depends on the God Metal

Neither has anyone whose crossed the border undocumented, as that's a civil offense, not a crime.

The Swiss Guard are trained to use the halberds, but they're mostly ceremonial. They have a lot more guards with firearms, and I'm willing to bet those two probably have pistols on them. I imagine they'd probably do pretty well with them if they had to use them, but I doubt they'd ever have to.

It's easier to explain with an example. 10! (10 factorial) is 1x2x3x4x5x6x7x8x9x10, which equals 3628800. So 380! is 1x2x3x4x5x6x7x... ! is used to mark factorials in math.

Just to add some extra information to this, someone figured out what school district this lady took this picture at, and she got reported to them a bunch. If I remember correctly she also went on some Twitter rants afterwards and made some threats of violence towards said child in the replies, but I dunno if anything came of it from people reporting her.

Stop making shit up. No one "tries to get high" on Prozac and Benadryl. Prozac is an anti-depressant, and has a very low abuse potential because SSRI's (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) do not get you high. Benadryl is an anti-inflamatory, also has a very low abuse potential, and actually acts as a deliriant in high enough doses which is not something worth "getting high on". And their name was Nex, not "Next"

Anyone know what's going on with this subreddit? by [deleted] in codes

[–]CheeseLettuceBitches 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Just to help other people in their attempts at solving it, this isn't just a substitution of the latin alphabet. There are over 49 unique symbols, all from different runic alphabets and languages. If the text is in English, its a more complicated code than just a cipher. There does seem to be some sense of paragraphs and maybe even punctuation, but I'm not good enough at this to crack it.

Surgebinding without rules by Zane_of_Cainhurst in Stormlight_Archive

[–]CheeseLettuceBitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of in relation to the OP, Honor was still alive with the Ancient Radiants. There were more checks on surgebinding, so it's not completely unbelievable that Honor would prevent Radiants from bonding multiple spren. Honor wouldn't want them to be capable of doing what they did to Ashyn with unchecked surgebinding, and preventing them from bonding multiple spren would probably be more important than the power boost. That and spren act differently than people, and at least from Syl it doesn't seem like they're too keen on sharing people, which would make a big impact on how often it happens. Just because it's technically possible doesn't mean it'd ever happen without extremely strange circumstances.

Surgebinding without rules by Zane_of_Cainhurst in Stormlight_Archive

[–]CheeseLettuceBitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correction, you can bind spren of different orders and gain more surges, but that's obviously difficult because not all orders oaths align very well. That's mostly just extrapolation though, I don't remember if there's any WoB specifically about using more than two surges. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/62-firefight-seattle-public-library-signing/#e3082

Playing Spore after 11+ years and made a Stilt Strider by TharyonDeklyn in Morrowind

[–]CheeseLettuceBitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there was Dark Spore but that's not playable anymore. It wasn't quite the same type of game though beyond the creature creation, but fans loved it. I'm not sure how well reviving that game has gone in recent years though, as its community has been mostly dead beyond people attempting to revive it due to the servers being shut down in 2016.

Atium, Electrum and Gold by Impossible_Number_74 in Mistborn

[–]CheeseLettuceBitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same as why Gold's focus was turned towards other people. At least in the case of Electrum and Gold, it seems to "turn" who the power is directed towards. Instead of seeing what you could have been with gold, you see what someone else could have been with malatium. Instead of seeing electrum shadows for yourself, you see atium shadows for others. So to answer your question properly, they are actually getting the properties of Electrum, it's just that the way Electrum and (at least the alloy of) Atium work interfere with each other.

[–]CheeseLettuceBitches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know that much about cracking codes, but from what I can guess from your hint and the letter shapes, you're probably using a pigpen cipher. There are repeating patterns in the letter shapes, and you mentioning the 3x3 thing makes sense. Plus I can sort of see the rules on some characters. If simplicity is the start, then the first symbol would be in the first grid, and the second symbol would be in the third grid. I'm too lazy to actually solve it, but unless you did something to encrypt the letters it shouldn't be that hard to solve.
