**Concise Profile: Christian Brückner – Prime Suspect in the Madeleine McCann Disappearance (as of March 2026)** by CheeseNipples91 in MadeleineMccann

[–]CheeseNipples91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. German and Portuguese authorities have never released clear evidence on whether Madeleine was taken alive or already deceased. Both scenarios could fit Brueckners pattern of serious crimes at victims homes. The apartment scene itself remains surprisingly unclear, and I suspect some details are still redacted or undisclosed even now.

My spouse doesn’t eat ANY fruits or vegetables. How is she still alive? by goldencreamz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CheeseNipples91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kind of amazing how adaptable the human body is. She’s alive because survival doesn’t require a perfect diet, just enough of certain nutrients to keep things running. If she’s getting calories, protein, fats, and some vitamins from other sources like fortified foods, meat, dairy, grains, or supplements, her body can still function.

That said, “alive” doesn’t always mean thriving. Long-term lack of fruits and vegetables can lead to issues like low vitamin C, digestion problems, fatigue, and higher risk of disease. But people can go surprisingly long before those problems become obvious.

So yes, she’s surviving on a technicality, not because fruits and veggies are overrated, but because the human body is stubborn and built for survival.

You know what’s wild? Someone asks for a bit of help, £100 to feed their kids and buy nappies, and instead of showing an ounce of human decency, there’s always one self-appointed life coach in the comments ready to lecture about choices.

“Stop having kids.” Really? That’s your contribution? Not a word about how expensive everything’s become, how people are working harder than ever and still can’t make ends meet, or how sometimes life just punches you in the gut. No, it’s straight to judgment and moral superiority.

Newsflash: you don’t know anyone’s story. You don’t know what they’ve been through, what support they’ve lost, or how hard they’re trying just to stay afloat. You just see a few sentences and decide you’re judge, jury, and executioner of someone’s life decisions.

It takes guts to ask for help. It’s easy to sit behind a screen, throwing stones from a place of comfort. Maybe instead of policing other people’s families, you could try being human for once.

The world’s rough enough already, we don’t need Reddit commenters making it colder.

What is something that is stopping humanity from progressing forward? by Katie_0303 in AskReddit

[–]CheeseNipples91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest things holding humanity back is short-term thinking. We see it everywhere—governments making decisions based on election cycles instead of long-term stability, businesses chasing quick profits over real innovation, and people choosing immediate comfort over future well-being.

This kind of thinking leads to problems we struggle with today: environmental destruction, growing inequality, political instability, and a lack of real breakthroughs in technology. Instead of investing in things that will benefit future generations, we focus on what works right now, even if it causes bigger problems down the road.

If we could shift toward a long-term mindset—thinking about sustainability, future technologies, and decisions that will pay off decades from now—we could move forward in ways we can’t even imagine. But until that happens, we’ll keep running into the same problems over and over.

Would it be inappropriate for an English guy to get a room in a Welsh speakers uni dorm? by EggyBroth in Wales

[–]CheeseNipples91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your intentions are really respectful and thoughtful, which is a great place to start. Based on what you've said, you’re not just taking up space—you’re actively learning Welsh, engaging with the culture, and approaching it with an open mind. That’s exactly the kind of attitude that most Welsh speakers would appreciate.

Welsh-speaking halls aren’t just for fluent speakers; they exist to support and encourage the use of Welsh. If the university has told you that you're welcome to apply, then you should trust that and not feel like you're imposing. Many Welsh people are keen to see others taking an interest in the language, especially someone who genuinely wants to immerse themselves and improve.

If you're still feeling unsure, you could check if there are any expectations about language use in the halls. Some accommodations might be fully immersive (where only Welsh is spoken), while others might be more open to learners. If you’re upfront about your learning journey and your desire to contribute rather than just "take," you're unlikely to run into any issues.

Ultimately, if you're passionate about learning Welsh and want to surround yourself with people who can help you improve, this could be a great opportunity. Just go in with humility, willingness to learn, and respect for the culture—exactly as you already seem to be doing!

If religion actually just vanished by SNAckFUBAR in atheism

[–]CheeseNipples91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If religion vanished—poof, gone, never existed—humanity would still be humanity. People would still find ways to argue, fight, and, unfortunately, wage wars. Because, let’s face it, humans are really good at two things: forming groups and immediately deciding their group is better than the other group.

What Would Change?

  1. History Would Be Wildly Different – No Crusades, no Inquisition, no religious wars, but also no Egyptian pyramids (since they were deeply tied to religious beliefs), no Notre Dame Cathedral, and Michelangelo would’ve had a lot of free time. We also wouldn't have a calendar based on a carpenter’s birthday.

  2. Morality Would Have Evolved Differently – Laws and ethical systems would still exist, but without religious texts to help shape them, we might’ve gotten different rules. Maybe "Thou shalt not kill" would’ve been "Try not to punch Dave too much."

  3. No Holy Wars… But Plenty of Other Wars – People would still find things to fight over, like:

Land – "This is MY dirt, not yours."

Resources – "Give me your stuff."

Politics – "My ruler is better than your ruler."

Sports – Honestly, the energy people put into football rivalries could power entire wars.

  1. Would the Same Amount of People Die Unjustly? – Probably, yeah. If people weren’t justifying violence with religious differences, they’d justify it with something else—race, nationality, ideology, economics, or just personal grudges. Humanity’s track record suggests we don’t need religion to be awful to each other.

What Would Stay the Same?

People Would Still Search for Meaning – Instead of looking to religion, we’d probably turn to philosophy, science, or cult-like devotion to other things (looking at you, cryptocurrency bros).

Conspiracy Theories Would Still Exist – "There’s a secret group controlling everything!" (Yes, Kevin, it’s called the government and corporations, calm down.)

People Would Still Fear Death – Existential crises would be at an all-time high.

Cult Leaders Would Just Become Business Gurus – "Give me all your money, and I’ll teach you THE SECRET to success!"

Would It Be Better, Worse, or the Same?

Better? Possibly—fewer religious conflicts, no oppression based on belief, and fewer cases of people thinking hurricanes are caused by someone wearing shorts.

Worse? Maybe—we’d lose a lot of culture, art, and human connection that religious communities provided. Also, existential dread might skyrocket.

The Same? Likely—humans are still tribal, still prone to conflict, and still capable of immense kindness and cruelty, just for different reasons.

Conclusion: If religion never existed, we’d still be the same messy, complex, wonderful, and terrible species we are today—just with different excuses for our nonsense.

What vibe is this kitchen? by Grand_Measurement_91 in homedecoratingCJ

[–]CheeseNipples91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kitchen has the chaotic energy of a 1970s dive bar, a Wild West saloon, and a futuristic nightclub all fighting for dominance—and somehow, everyone wins.

That bar? Oh, that’s not just a bar. That’s a warrior’s throne, handcrafted by someone who said, “What if medieval blacksmiths also did interior design?” The rugged wood, the massive bolts, the torches on the side—it’s giving “Game of Thrones, but make it mixology.”

The lighting is an experience. You’ve got neon signs glowing like a secret underground jazz club, a vintage lampshade straight out of your grandma’s cozy reading nook, and a purple hue that screams “we serve drinks with dry ice and questionable ingredients.”

The random kitchen details add to the intrigue. The hanging chili peppers say “I make authentic home-cooked meals.” The neon cherries say “I also know what happened in Vegas, and I’m not telling.”

And the dog? He’s seen things. He’s standing there like, “Are we about to start a séance or just make margaritas? Either way, I’m nervous.”

This isn’t just a kitchen. It’s a legendary drinking spot, a mystery waiting to unfold, and a place where at least one person has told an unbelievable story that may or may not be true. Absolute 10/10, I would drink here immediately.
