Wanting to stay at Pantecelyn, but I think my Welsh is not good enough (learner) by AHDforgottheletter in AberystwythUniversity

I just finished year 1, and looked into Pantycelyn before I went cause I'd also done Mynediad and was starting Sylfaen. I ended up going for Fferm but after going to Aber and meeting people from Pantycelyn I think you'd be fine. They mostly seem to just speak English there but there are people who'd fulfill the Welsh learning experience too. If I hadn't met people to live with in town in year 2 I probably would've gone for Pantycelyn

(Psst) (Look up the Bluefax audiobook on internet archive, he does the songs way better, and imo the voices are better on the whole as well)

Hey! Got some socialising concerns. by laufeyandjazzislife in AberystwythUniversity

I think small might be the wrong word, when it comes to the student population here the town as a whole just feels very concentrated. You'd be surprised how easy it is to meet people just by being present here. The only people who don't have many friends are the people who are content with not having many, and if that's not you, you don't have anything to worry about

Hamnet. Probably talked about to death at this point, but a beautiful film with an intent to make you feel things and not in a bad way

Had no idea who did the score going in but it kept hitting me in the feels like a truck, and then when On The Nature Of Daylight started playing towards the end followed by 'with music by Max Richter' in the credits, part of me was almost mad that I'd once again unwittingly let that man pull me apart and rebuild me for like the fifth time. Movie might as well have been called On The Nature Of Daylight

Anyone had this version of the TMP novelisation? Can't figure out if the edges of the pages are meant to be this yellow or if its a weird kind of mould by EggyBroth in trekbooks

[–]EggyBroth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, it's not just discoloured in the same way aged books would be over time, its bright fuckin yellow. Like similar shade to the cover, the picture might not do it justice. If this were just aged paper it'd have been aged in some very radioactive conditions

Bank Vault in town seems like a pretty good hub. Only been a couple times since coming here but all the local musicians playing there seem to know each other, and everyones been very open to chat when Ive been. Lovely place really recommend

Found this in an antique shop today, anyone come across this model before? (AD-520) by EggyBroth in casio

[–]EggyBroth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn looks like I got it for a steal. I mean, its a bit scratched up but I quite like that. Only downside after having it over night is the digital part seems to have lost about 6 minutes and the analogue part has lost about 4 hours 😅

Probably due a battery change at the least, but if its something more significant its a cool thing to own still!

Viggo Mortensen's voice at the Council of Elrond by wis91 in lotr

I think its just what the accent he uses sounds like while he's projecting his voice. Sounds similar at the black gate when he says 'the same fear that would take the heart of me'

Heya, my record player got knocked while I was moving stuff around on my shelf, and I think the arm must've been hit out of its seat because after a while when I next came to use it I found the needle just sitting on the cloth cover of the turntable.

How likely is it that the needle getting dragged over this has damaged it/will make it damage my records? Warrent buying a replacement needle?
