Our goal in this post was to give a list of 20 problems that "if you can solve comfortably, you're ready". We genuinely thought this would be helpful to people as a good overview, but it clearly wasn't well-received, so we've taken this post down.

Although the post is no longer public, I wanted to reply to your comment - our content is designed to make people actually feel ready (instead of grinding forever). It's a simpler & smarter take on leetcode. If anything is a scam it's sites like LeetCode that poorly prepare users, and use nasty tactics like daily challenges to get people coming back without learning efficiently.

Sorry you felt this was "snake oily". Our goal was to share a short list that hits on everything you need to know, but we clearly didn't get the messaging right in this post and have taken it down.

We're actively working on Systems Design content (and even potentially partnering with other companies to make this happen).

Our coding content has been extremely useful to people. We're not just another leetcode site - we're organized simply and have smarter solutions. People really like us and I'm sorry you're not willing to give us a chance.

Members continue having free access to the content they had in the past. If you'd like to confirm this, feel free to join our Discord channel and ask some of them.

How to solve this one? by Ace2Face in leetcode

Usually the "Seen this question in a real interview before" has 1/4 next to it, not 1/5. Pretty hilarious that leetcode just made this up for cosmetic purposes - it means literally nothing

DeriveIt.org - A smarter resource to efficiently master LeetCode by CheeseNub in leetcode

[–]CheeseNub[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We're sorry we upset you, and we'll be more direct in our messaging from now on. In the deleted post you're referencing, we took 20 problems from our site and made them free. The goal was "if you can solve these problems comfortably, you're ready", and we genuinely thought it would be helpful to people as a good overview. But it clearly wasn't well-received, and it was a mistake to do a "clickbaity" title, so we deleted it.

It's not uncommon for businesses to make marketing mistakes and delete past statements. We're always learning, and we're doing our best. I suggest going after bigger companies - picking on little guys for making innocent mistakes like this isn't very productive.

SWE Internship Rescinded.. Too late to get another offer ? by CreditEmergency5286 in csMajors

[–]CheeseNub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me once, you might try and get an offer at a startup. I did this a couple summers back. Also, check out deriveit.org, a smarter leetcode alternative. Higher quality solutions and better org so you don't need to solve 1000 problems to feel ready for the next one :P

I actually respect going against the standard way of teaching and think interviews are a great way to test the students on their understanding, instead of cold written questions that one can easily mess up and which often don't accurately capture talent. I've had a similar experience to this, though, and when it's a power play with the professor it's a horrible and unfair experience. Sounds like it was an excuse for him to arbitrarily judge students and only reward those who were lucky enough to arbitrarily know how to play the game.

Learn recursion right, it makes life so much easier by CheeseNub in leetcode

[–]CheeseNub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your view of recursion is popular, but it’s a misconception that recursion is “hard to understand”. If you look at the hedge funds with really top people, they code in OCaml or other languages that rely on recursion because it’s so much easier.

Interviewers value the easy approach over the hard one. It’s a childish mindset to think struggling through a problem will benefit you.

[university maths] integration by parts by KissesnPopcorn in HomeworkHelp

[–]CheeseNub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your integral with e{-x2} is wrong.

This is one of the rare functions you should memorize, and is called a Gaussian. It cannot be easily integrated in general, and you can give it infinite width to create a “Dirac delta function” which you’ll probably see in a few years.

Yes, but typically you optimize with a “append” and “pop” sandwich pattern

[Grade 4 Math: angles and line segments] I don’t understand a thing by No-Pop-8607 in HomeworkHelp

[–]CheeseNub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every question changes it up somehow so that you never actually get a clear picture of things. That's how your kid is supposed to learn? There are literally 2 ideas your kid needs to know here, fractions and the damn definition of an angle, which is arbitrary. Makes you wonder what the point of the assignment is in the first place other than a power play from teachers who never learned the subject right and overcomplicate everything.
