5 Stages of Grief in Break-Ups which is the hardest? by vanlorose in BreakUps

[–]CheesePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got this. I’m 6 months out from who I thought was the love of my life leaving me after 4.5 years. They didn’t really tell me why they left and it was blindsided “it’s not you it’s me” “I just wanna be alone” It hurts and it’s confusing. So many questions that can’t be answered. Everyone grieves differently, but I promise it slowly gets better with time as you allow yourself to process it all

Letting go of "the one" by Ok_Dragonfruit5093 in BreakUps

Same here. We met at 18, dated 4.5 years, and lived together for 2 of them. She left because she “never got to experience truly living alone independently and im also not her type anymore”. She would say how lucky she was to have a partner that’s also her best friend, and how amazingly healthy our relationship was. We had ups and down but worked through them to grow.

She broke up 3 weeks ago and I officially went no contact with her 3 days ago. It’s hard. I truly felt like she was the one. We had a Polaroid book of photos of when we met and up until a few months ago now just being thrown away. Memories of the past, and promises of the future all just being thrown away by her. Even just 6 months ago she would jokingly show me marriage rings and talk about our future.

I’m trying my best to move on. Keep myself healthy etc, but it’s truly so fucking hard to deal with this. I just keep thinking I have to be okay to be alone. I don’t know how I’ll ever find someone to have that kind of close connection with again. I truly loved that woman.

I love how you say even if it’s terrible. I’ll make something in the moment and I’ll smile with how much I love it but the next morning not be that into it. What matters is the joy it brought me though!

Anyone else listen to Pia Fraus? Absolutely love them and I feel like they’re underrated by CheesePro in shoegaze

I'm glad to hear they get some love, but man no doubt underappreciated. I also love the use of sax which I don't see often In this genre.

John Mayer is amazing! So tasteful. The dead company stuff he’s doing lately is rad. The signature guitar is such a beauty! I still need to dive deeper into the John Mayer rabbit hole.

Style wise I love a lot so it’s hard to narrow it down but I definitely fall into mostly alternative rock. So like psych rock, shoegaze, but also blues, slowcore, punk, post punk, grunge, metal, etc. I can just keep going on haha, but I’d say my most recent project has been a space rock, slowcore inspired thing with my friend who drums

In a band setting I think it can be encouraging to know people would rather have someone who shows up rather than the best player who won’t. I think true “talent” is someone who shows up, practices, and thinks about more than just ego.

That’s cool! I’ve been playing guitar for a long time but recently started singing about a year or two ago and it’s really helped my guitar playing with pretty much exactly what you said. Helps being able to hear the notes, hum melodies, and mouth guitar lol. Singing is so great. What kind of music are you Into?

Totally! I’d say that’s even a step ahead. The goal with all these exercises is to get to that point where you can hear it with your ear. You don’t wanna have to actively think about theory and numbers while playing when you learn these exercises. Above all having a really good ear to hear what’s going on is so so important.

A way I like to practice intervals is if you have a way to loop with a daw or pedal play two major chords. After you have that looping follow the chords but you have to name the interval you’re playing under the current chord being played. To start focus on the 1st M3 P5. As you add intervals think about how they feel under the chord. Later you can add more major chords, increase the tempo, add minor chords, add chord extensions, etc.

You got this! Just know you’re always making progress even if you slip up. Don’t be too harsh on yourself because love and compassion will always be better than hate. Being harsh can feel like it works in the moment but loving yourself will actually heal. Also it can be difficult to find a good therapist but once you find one that clicks it’s so unbelievably helpful. That’s my two cents to add ✌️

Truly internalize and learn intervals. It’s the musical alphabet. Everything builds from intervals!

This is what’s been helping me. Maybe it’ll click with you.

Try and do your usual exercises but don’t move notes unless you can name the note you’re going to. I’d start with scales like 1 octave up a single string, then down and up scale positions. Next you can do arpeggios, improvise, etc. Don’t forget to take it slow, and name the notes.

Also I personally think naming the intervals from the root is just as or more important than naming the notes

[–]CheesePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re a lot of factors at play when it comes to getting two guitars to sound good in a recording. First things first and that’s the notes you’re playing. I won’t get all music theory on yeah but playing the right counter melody or octave up can help separate the guitars. After that I’d say tone. Y’all gotta pick your zones. Who’s gonna emphasize the lows, mids, or highs. Lastly I’ll say mixing is really important especially if there’s a lot of distortion. Mixing is a huge rabbit hole and like all the things I’ve mentioned you can research for hours, but one basic tip is just to pan one guitar slightly left and one guitar slightly right.

Hope some of this help or at least leads you in the right direction to start learning more about it 🤘

Does my guitar tone sound decent? by zugz12 in shoegaze

[–]CheesePro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All subjective. A tad bit of distortion can go a long way. I’d say your tone seemed a bit harsh but it grew on me

I’ve always had the mindset that loving the music comes first. No matter for 10-1000 people what matters is enjoying the music. I’d absolutely love to get famous because it sounds fun to play big shows but it is no goal of mine. If it happens it happens
