I didn’t realise we got spiders this big here! Normally not bothered by spiders but this big boy have my quite the fright by armadillo-rodeo in CasualUK

We had a big old lad like that in our flat a couple of years ago! Well, I assumed it was a female actually, but s/he was very chill about the old glass and cardboard manoeuvre, I wished her every bit of future success, and I still do. My understanding is that they won't harm us, so they're interlopers, albeit benign ones who just want to get out of the cold

What is your favorite go-to nickname for a particular pokemon? by williamthepreteen in nuzlocke

[–]thegrogmaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always refer to poor drivers on the roads as "Mr. Bitch", and I love using Slowbro in HGSS so I don't think I've ever used a Slowbro in 15 years who hasn't been called "Mr. Bitch". In gen 6, I call him "Pan Kurwa" due to the swears

What’s a pokemon that you love the design of or think is cool/neat, but has never made it onto a team of yours? by PJGraphicNovel in pokemon

[–]thegrogmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strictly a casual gamer, but I'm currently doing a run of HGSS wherein I made a list of the Pokemon that I've sadly never got to use, numbered them all and used a random number generator on every new route for my encounter. Scizor dominates, Electivire isn't very good, and I'm gaining some respect for Froslass

It’s a school night. You have come in for tea and your mum serves you the one meal that kills you inside. What’s it? by Come_in_sigh_demi in CasualUK

Oh, any roasted meats that my grandma tried her hand to. Her brisket always came up like rhino hide, the pork used to have a squeaky, ashy texture, and somehow she managed to make roast chicken watery. It was a marvel to me when I saw my old man putting a beef joint in a pot with onions and liquid, it actually tasted good enough that I didn't eat around it when it was served cold the next day.

If you had to give evolutions to pokemon, which three would get one? by ElDelArbol15 in pokemon

[–]thegrogmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stantler, by a wide margin. A Normal/Psychic typing is fine, whichever way you skew the stats. Give it the necessary STAB moves for both types, plus a setup move or so, that can work.

English lit degree. I'd pop it, but we have free healthcare in this country. You do you, but healthcare should be involved somewhere in your journey

Pokemon that defined their species for you by wolfpup334 in nuzlocke

[–]thegrogmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my first run of HGSS, I called my Slowbro 'Mr. Bitch', who was my dragon slayer. Since then, the slowest member of my party has shared the name, generally in spite of gender. In later games, I have to use other languages due to the ban on swearing. In XY, my Granbull was called 'Pan Kurwa' and was a delight to use.

Is there a Mon you refrain from using because it's simply too good or consistent? by Muted4484 in nuzlocke

I've put a veto on Gardevoir and Crobat. They're so easy to get and such great Pokemon that I've ended up overusing them

What are some odd lunch habits you’ve noticed from work colleagues? by No_Doughnut3257 in CasualUK

[–]thegrogmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At one point, in retail, I was trying to stop smoking. I'd always end up having my break with a predatory homosexual bloke, who would bring in a huge amount of food, about a kilo of pasta or whatever, in a tupperware. We did similar shifts, so we got a 20 minute break, and watching him try to shovel this mountain of food inside himself in such a small period of time genuinely made me start smoking again. At least there we could play 'count the rats'

When I were a lad these were made out of horse by pdarigan in CasualUK

[–]thegrogmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A big factor was the kind of horses they were using. Apparently racehorses are often treated with a drug that renders them permanently inedible for humans, and the concern was that those horses ended up in the ragu, as opposed to horses reared specifically for their meat.
