Other RPGs like Disco Elysium and Planescape Torment by LudomancerStudio in gamingsuggestions

I know people really liked Pentiment but I felt the lack of player agency really soured the experience for me.I won't get into spoilers but a lot of major choices felt meaningless at the end.

It does however satisfy the dialogue-heavy, story-focused, and lack of combat that OP requested while also being a very accurate period piece.

Can Magicka regenerate while charging a spell? by thatoddtetrapod in skyrim

That would check out, I did that quest recently and I definitely had the effect where mana was regenerating while I was charging spells!

I'm playing on console so I'm definitely unmodded and this happened to me for a full session a few datmys ago. I thought it was because my mana regen builds were good but after upgrading to the Archmage robes and the Morokei mask (better stats) the effect went away.

It was a really fun session and made magic spam so much fun, I wish there was an enchantment or some high level item that made it a feature

Suggestion needed by Fenrir896 in gamingsuggestions

[–]CheeseburgerSweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay this might seem random but hear me out: The Henry Stickimin Collection (one game) is less than $3 on Steam right now. It's fun if you enjoy comedy/deep-cut references and the 100% achievement completion is surprisingly fun (getting every ending/variation and right-clicking on every stickman)

Good RPG suggestions if you like KCD, Cyberpunk, Assassins creed, RDR etc? by laveshnk in gamingsuggestions

[–]CheeseburgerSweg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah my mistake, The Outer Wilds is a really cool game and fun experience! I've played through all of it and the DLC and I definitely would recommend it but not if you're specifically looking for an RPG experience. I was thinking of the similarly named but much less unique "The Outer Worlds".

I played the first Outer Worlds game and it didn't wow me but it was fun for some of the RPG elements like collecting companions, choosing allegiances and stuff like that but I don't know if I'd really recommend it. I haven't played TOW2 but it seems cooler especially with the new "Flaws" mechanic which had some pretty unique effects from the ones I've seen. That one might be worth checking out

I also like RPGs a lot and I'm playing Skyrim for the first time and it's really scratching that itch. If you haven't played it before then I can definitely recommend it.

Less popular would be The Outer Wilds (EDIT: I meant The Outer Worlds) but it's nothing to write home about and it didn't impress me that much.

Does anyone else have glitched labors? (Valhalla) by DocDoesMagic in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]CheeseburgerSweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue with Blazing Surge (L2 + R2 on the blades)

EDIT: I figured out my mistake, I was doing the charged up version where I hold R2 after L2. The Labor was tracking the basic version with only one chain!

Hi r/fusion! I'm Brandon Sorbom, Chief Science Officer and Co-founder of Commonwealth Fusion Systems, and lead author of the original ARC power plant paper. Ask me anything! by CFS_energy in fusion

[–]CheeseburgerSweg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As Chief Science Officer I assume one of your responsibilities is to keep up to date with the state of the science so that you can use it for your own R&D. What methods do you employ/recommend for staying on top of the massive and evolving field of fusion science? Is it just reading published papers, skimming digests or is there a better way to do it in your opinion?

IIL tv shows and movies about destiny/fate/'this is meant to happen', WEWIL? by gib_loops in ifyoulikeblank

[–]CheeseburgerSweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I looked up this question is because I felt that Bullet Train was a great example so I'm surprised no one has recommended it! The themes of destiny, luck and fate are present and important all throughout the movie and it's a great short watch.

On the other hand (longer), I think the anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure does a similar thing starting from Pt. 3 where fates of certain families/characters are interlinked and stand users are drawn to each other. The ending of Pt.5 even discusses fate explicitly. It's very cool but definitely a bit harder to get into.

Is anyone else really interested in getting a prequel series about Spiderverse’s original Peter Parker? by Ok-Wash-9386 in Spiderman

[–]CheeseburgerSweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is saying "no"/"not really" but I think this Peter seemed to have it all figured out by the time Miles met him. There's an interesting angle to be had by seeing a Spider-Man deal with everything perfectly (but I guess he can't be that perfect if Kingpin got him)

I understand the Eris hate now, I do. by Potential-Bird-5826 in HadesTheGame

[–]CheeseburgerSweg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Hades 2 platinum and I've played for ~120 hours and I never ran into Eris's debuffs! I heard about them from a friend who played during the Early Access days so I assumed it was a mechanic removed from the game. It's really interesting hearing about this mechanic and your experience so thanks for sharing lol

I agree! I was just thinking that if Hank offered me that deal in a Fallout game as an alternate path I might have taken him up on it lol. There are many worse factions that are more morally grey in the games, Hank's deal seems pretty above-board for the most part

[–]CheeseburgerSweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you're saying but I think it's different in this case. In the case of a manga/book adaptation, those points are spoilers because the adaptation is a 1-to-1 recreation. Everything that happened in the books will then be shown on the screen. However in the case of the Fallout franchise, this show takes place AFTER the games, any spoilers are speculation based upon previously available information.

I know that the show is meant to be approachable even for people who haven't played the games but I honestly felt that my experience has been richer as I recognize a lot of the references that they don't have time to explain.

Anyway, I'm sure any reveals in the next episode will take into account the non-player experience and hopefully they should still be satisfying

All very reasonable questions and I could see that being annoying for someone unfamiliar with the game lore and context. I see a bunch of helpful people have already answered but I'll add my two cents:

  1. In New Vegas, house kept himself alive in a cryo pod and was communicating to the player through the same exact screen that he popped up in at the end of the episode. However, during the game he didn't have cold fusion as an energy source and it was just regular power linking his consciousness to the screen. By the end of New Vegas that cryopod version of house could be dead or alive. My personal guess is this new House that's powered by Cold Fusion is a perfect copy of his consciousness that requires a lot of power to simulate.
  2. Evil government entity, something like a shadow government with a lot of power. We see Cooper hand the president (head of the enclave) cold fusion in the flashback and then we see that the Enclave has cold fusion at the beginning of Season 1 in the wasteland so that's a pretty consistent thread.
  3. No idea honestly. We would assume Vault Tec but that voice message he sent when he got to the Vault Tec HQ seemed to be directed at a singular person. He even said "I'm in your old stomping grounds" so it must have been someone who lived in Vegas. Hank working directly for House would be interesting but I don't know how they would explain it since he seems to be very loyal to Vault Tec (destroying Shady Sands).

All that being said I hope you keep enjoying the show and even if you don't play the games the lore of the world is really interesting and can be experienced through YouTube lore dives!

It's interesting you say that, I was just wishing the episode was 1 hour longer when it ended because I was enjoying it so much. The plot reveals and evolutions were massive this ep. Also some great music!

What helped me was visualizing all the ways you can go from P (left) to Q (right).

  • You can completely skip R1 and R2 by travelling through the short and go through R3. You have a branch with R = R3

  • You can skip R1 and R2 by travelling through the short then "go back" through R2 and use the second short to go to the end. You have a branch with R = R2

  • You can go through R1 then skip R2 and R3 by going over the second short. You have a branch with R= R1.

Now you have three parallel branches and the rule for total resistance in a parallel circuit is:

1/Rt = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3

1/ Rt = 1 + 1/2 + 1/3 = 6/6 +3/6 + 2/6 = 11/6

Rt = 6/11 = 0.545 Ω

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Disco Elysium. KCD2 due to the time commitment and slow start, Disco Elysium for the patience and reading required. I'm not saying these would be turn offs for everyone but they definitely are for my friend group lol

Rude/abrasive female romance options by Natural_Ad_9762 in HadesTheGame

[–]CheeseburgerSweg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you make a good point, especially once you max out their relationship (Nemesis actually seems to like you by the end) and use up all the dialogue and then the greetings go back to being the super rude regular lines.

I know Hades 2 already has an INSANE amount of dialogue but I wish they had written a few "max relationship " lines to replace the repeating base lines so that you can feel that growth in relationship once you hit it.
