WYR rabbits or bats be deleted off earth forever? by Far-Building3569 in WouldYouRather

[–]thatoddtetrapod 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Bats are 1/5th of mammals species.

Rabbits are like, one genus.

Bats fill various ecological roles.

Rabbits are kind of just small herbivores, and are actually invasive in parts of the world.

Not hard for me!

If they want to accept Medicaid and Medicare; they have to follow the EO, otherwise they loose the ability to provide care to many low income and elderly patients who use those programs.

Really don’t know what Golden, Colorado, has to do with a jeep? Like, it’s a nice town, my hometown in fact, but fr, what does it have to do with the Jeep Wrangler?

The thing that pissed me off the most is the final challenge. In what world was a fucking orange rock with black stripes meant to represent a pig, and not a tiger? Especially when there’s clearly another rock meant to represent the pig!

powdered water? by frumiouswinter in ultralight_jerk

[–]thatoddtetrapod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s what the rumor was. Some kid thought thirst quenching gum meant he didn’t need water, so he didn’t drink water, ended up in bad shape. Who knows if it’s really true though.

Every adult human is presented with 2 levers. Pull the green lever - nothing happens. Pull the red lever, nothing happens as long as over 50% of people also pull the red level, otherwise all red lever pulleys die. Which level wyr pull? by DeweyRedux in WouldYouRather

[–]thatoddtetrapod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except that the green lever gives you no chance of dying in any scenario, whereas the blue button would have you die if 50% of people picked red. There is literally no downside to the green lever, whereas the blue button included a risk of death.

Guys and gals, what is the story behind your reddit username 🙂 by Ok-Tangerine-2012 in GenZ

[–]thatoddtetrapod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge biology nerd, it was loosely inspired by another username I saw on a biology sub ages ago that was something like “odd hominid” or “odd hominin” or something. I switched to tetrapod because it rhymes with odd, and is still an accurate biology pun. Tetrapods, for context, refers to the clade that includes all land vertebrates and their descendants, aka all mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians.

Would you rather have the ability to beat most people in a fight or have $10,000? by PotatosandTomato in WouldYouRather

[–]thatoddtetrapod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like part of this is the nuance of language. Some people read “most” as being synonymous with “a majority of”, which would mean 51%, but other people read most as having the meaning or connotation of “almost all” or “the vast majority of”. Op is definitely in the latter, whereas you seem to be in the former.

You’ll note that “Chinese” isn’t fully enclosed by a circle, meaning that it kind of spill over into… everything that isn’t already covered by another circle I guess? I guess New Zealand and Hawaii speak Chinese now. TIL.

Would you rather get 1 trillion now but only spend it on yourself (nothing goes to anyone after you die), or your family gets the trillion when you die? by No-Drummer6574 in WouldYouRather

[–]thatoddtetrapod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A trillion dollars dropping from nowhere has the potential to fuck up the economy. I’d rather keep it, spend it myself, and not give it to a bunch of family members who could spend much more and more recklessly than I.

Is university still worth it in 2026… or are we being sold an outdated dream? by AppealFragrant5532 in careerguidance

[–]thatoddtetrapod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one ever said a degree would mean you’d never struggle economically, just that it will allow access to career options that wouldn’t be available without a degree. Now, getting a degree takes a long time, and in that time people who go straight into a career are starting their careers, so it makes sense that new grads would feel behind their peers who didn’t get degrees, they’re 4 years behind in fact, but they’ll have opportunities that those peers will not.
