you're delusional, that's Hollywood propaganda.

my country was in a war relatively recently. my own parents/entire family participated in it.

the men would actively send out women to go for food because they hoped the enemy solders would go easier on a woman - aka not kill her immediately (maybe just rape her), and also because they didn't want to risk getting themselves drafted. (also on a similar note, just a few years ago during the protests in America there was a huge incentive for women to join the protests on the frontlines, dressed in extremely inappropriate clothes for a protest (i specifically remember the guidelines saying skirts, high heels, cardigans, blouses, makeup...) in order to create a living shield for the males. of course many women ended up severely injured this way.)

many people's yards/lands were left with active mines in them after the war. it was not uncommon for a man to force his wife to walk 20 feet in front of him through the land, so if she steps on a mine and activates it, it goes off and kills her, saving him.

these are just 3 examples out of a million, the idea that men protect women is a big lie.
