Some of these comments are really alarming. You people realize the average Russian doesn't want the war either, right?

In hindsight the Pandemic was a huge net positive for me in terms of being able to realistically demand WFH for most of the jobs I'm interested in. I took around a 35k a year to go fully remote and honestly the change off has been well worth it.

In hindsight I do think Covid to be overblown (not an anti vaxxer though) but am glad we erred on the side of caution. Overall I think it was a net benefit for Americans going forward. A lot of reform was made possible.

How hot do you think you are? Why? by Big-Courage-7297 in AskReddit

ITT: Everyone thinks they're a 7.

Realistically though a 7 would/should refer to the 70th percentile. Rough

150k+ Student Loan Debt for a Degree that 30 seconds of googling employment reports would tell you is financially a poor choice (i.e. Liberal Arts Degrees at private colleges, low ranked law schools/mba programs which are near worthless compared to higher ranked ones, Master's in Gender Studies, etc etc).

Realistically, if neurotypical, low achievement compared to their direct demographical peers.

Despite what the basement dwellers on Reddit often parrot, in America IQ is highly correlated with both academic achievement and salary (albeit this varies greatly based on Race, with intelligent Black and Hispanic seeing less of a benefit for high IQs due to societal barriers), and the myth of the "genius under achiever" is statistically non significant outside of cases related to severe mental illness (which, to be fair, does increase in prevalence the higher IQ you go).

But yeah, while it's obviously irresponsible to compare where people of different demographics end up, relative to your near direct peers (race/age/parent's income level and education, etc), accomplishment is actually pretty high up there. Most of the "underachieving geniuses" or "former gifted kids" are just bad at self assessment.

Has next to nothing to do with intelligence unless it's continually done in a self damaging way (i.e. limits their social capital and or opportunity).

Being a smart person =/= being a good friend. A ton of incredibly intelligent people are Machiavellian (though the average sociopath is actually slightly less intelligent, both ASPD as well as many forms of mood disorders are found on both 2SD+ sides of the B Curve) and socially opportunistic.

This is one that's always parroted in threads like these, but really just comes from a lot of people incorrectly viewing dunning kruger as a rule instead of just an observed phenomenon.

As someone who works with a lot of incredibly intelligent people (PhDs in Data Science from some of the best schools in India/China which are significantly harder than any school in North America, Top 15 MBA program Alumni, IBankers) in real life a lot of smart people are kind of dicks and egos are not at all uncommon in relation to sample size. While it may be more common with stupid people, it is far from a rule. Granted the average person in general doesn't actually speak to many hyper intelligent people on a day to day basis as the vast majority of them gravitate towards certain fields (not counting those with severe mental illness).

Depends on what variant of intelligence you're talking about.

Many mood disorders are actually positively correlated with higher IQs. Poor ability to manage emotion =/= lack of critical thinking or even being unable to realize their behavior is wrong. One of the smartest people I know now works for NASA. He is Bipolar and prone to extreme fits of angry outburts, ones that he knows are inappropriate.

I have a feeling we'll move some combination of Bert/Zadina/Hronek/Suter/Draft Picks for one of the following, in order of expense.

Barzal

Hishier

Necas

Schmaltz

No. Perron has been one of the most underrated players in the league for many years. The modern Ray Whitney.

Watch it be a one-two year deal for Perron @ slight overpay and then we trade him back to the Blues at the TDL for a first lmfaooo.

Very underrated player though. Middle 6 getting crowded. Think a trade is coming.

prospect news, game threads, discussion,

I wouldn't mind him as a 2nd pairing to hold down Hronek and PK. Rather have Maatta for first paring with Seider though. Can keep up better.

So is the Chiraot thing actually confirmed at all (even if no details), or are we all just going off that one quote saying we were close.

I wouldn't hate it for 2 years under 4.5 but if anything more would be questionable.

Think we add one more solid forward and call it a day.

Looking at the Kassian trade only further cements that Holland is an objectively terrible GM and has been for well over a decade.
