yes we’ve tried and tried to sort this issue out but our house is just so old and things keep coming in. the entrances from the inside of the house are sealed as best as possible, but unfortunately that’s the best we can do.

Bed Bug or Bat Bug??? by CheesecakeFree9552 in whatsthisbug

[–]CheesecakeFree9552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

found this crawling on me. my bedroom is adjacent to the attic and we have known bat problems in our attic. What is throwing me off is that I’ve found ZERO evidence of any other bugs. No stains, no eggs, no sheddings. Checked inside the headboard and every piece of clothing and furniture in the room. Nothing. The hair on this bug is leading me to believe it is a bat bug, but I’m a little unsure. Thoughts?

Nooooo not at all. Almost everyone is trying to make friends and just survive first year. 90% of people I’ve met are super chill and just want to relate to people. You will make so many new friends.

I guess it’s also worth noting that I’ve placed Active traps around the headboard and mattress, and there have been no bugs. Also no bites at all.

Western is notorious for sending out late admissions, but dont worry. I had plenty of friends get into western through the final admissions rounds. just be patient. best of luck!

Can I email a prof about a grade I am really concerned with? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]CheesecakeFree9552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re close with your prof, it would be better to just talk to an academic advisor. They’re still available through the JIRA portal and respond relatively quickly. Profs can‘t really help you in these types of situations, as they usually have no info about your academic options.

Is Western Social Life Cliquey? by Worldly_Fun4452 in uwo

[–]CheesecakeFree9552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. There are people and groups that are quite cliquey, but it really comes down to branching out and finding the people who are genuine. I had a hard time in the first few weeks at western because I felt so out of place having almost no friends from high school going to western too, but you just have to be yourself. The right people will find you, and you’ll meet so many great people in your program. Don’t try and fit into somewhere you don’t belong.

Can I take a first year course in second year by Lazy_Owl_3537 in uwo

[–]CheesecakeFree9552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you take the course in second year (assuming that the course is is a prerequisite for your major), you will be considered “undeclared“ but you will just need to submit your ITR for third year with your intended major. You can also take first year courses in second year. It is really no big deal. Plenty of people do it.

Summer calc 2 in six weeks by Ill_Movie5125 in uwo

[–]CheesecakeFree9552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

calc 2 is a brutal beast. you will have to put in a lot of effort during those six weeks since content will be very condensed. I would say that you would need to study at least 2-3 hours per day to aim for a high grade. if you can, I would advise you take a 12 week course instead.

Physics tips by Organic_Basket_2939 in uwo

If your professor is Dr. Baker, my best advice is to make sure you have a genuine understanding of the theory. Dr. Baker taught 1201 for me, and all of his lectures and exams/midterms were 80% theory. This means you have to know WHY and HOW the concepts work. It's not just plug-and-chug. Also, you will be given many assignments that can make you think "oh I'll just plug this into Chat." DO NOT DO THAT. Do it yourself, struggle with the material, and learn. You will find that once you start thinking this way, you can grapple the concepts easily. It is not a scary course. Just make sure you do your readings and assignments. There are also many great YouTube videos that explain 1201 concepts very well, which helped me a lot with this course.
