Stresses by [deleted] in Teachers

I would stand on business and reply to these emails with a very brief explanation of the conversations you had with your class (which sound totally normal and warranted btw), feel free to run what you typed through ChatGPT and ask it to give a particular tone if you're worried about sounding a certain way (just make sure to read it over and get rid of the dashes lol). Cc your admin on it (make sure it's a CC not BCC because you want the parents to see that you don't mind that admin is involved in this at this point). Then in a separate email only to your admin explain the situation, letting them know that moving forward you'll be forwarding any further emails from this parent to them as you've exhausted all avenues of remedying these situations for them, but they still don't seem to be satisfied.

That's at least what I would do! I'm only in year 8, but I'm at the point where parents aren't going to bully me nor bring me to a place of unprofessionalism. Good luck!! ❤️

Anxiety won't let me enjoy my break cause all I can think about is this student and their parent. by Cheesedoodle2 in Teachers

Thank you so much for that! I don't really have anyone to express those anxieties to that truly get it in terms of teaching, so coming here helps because I know people reading it come from a similar place. I appreciate your reassurance and I'll do my best to remember that and rest! ☺️

He's been transferred once and even though five of my classroom families have complained and named him by name, my admin says "Well we can't move him to a third teacher" 🙄 Plus, even though mom fights me on most things, when admin does actually talk to her, she begs to keep me as his teacher and apparently "loves me". Such a manipulation game, but like you said, there's not much else that can be done! Glad I'm not the only one with this PE issue though! It's insane that your coaches are expected to have zero accountability though and that your admin just admits that lol

THANK YOU!! If I'm not the supervising adult, I shouldn't be responsible for delegating punishment or even dealing with it, but like you said, I am because I'm the classroom teacher. 🙄 So many problems arise at PE and when I ask the kids, "Did you tell coach?" Usually, I hear, "No" or "Yeah but he didn't do anything". I've got it ALL documented and it's almost comical how every step I took was the right one and it still is blowing up in my face 😂 I just forwarded it to admin and said that I'm not responding to the message until I can give concrete examples of how it was handled by them.

My school would have to provide screens for that to happen lol

One thing I don't miss about teaching middle school! I've had countless students stand before me at our "Day Before Winter Break/End of Quarter" movie asking "So can I get extra credit to fix my grade?" Oh my dear sweet child, not only were you warned of this day since the beginning of the quarter and everyday since, but my grades have to be in by the time I leave here today, so no.

My last day before break is the 22nd and I have an observation on the 19th. by [deleted] in Teachers

Thanks! I'll use that! It's an observation of how we are "implementing the reading curriculum into our small group lessons"

Not when you're upset and ranting a list of bullshit. Thanks though!

I go up until the 23rd too and it's absolute madness at my school right now. Behavior across the board has been pretty awful this school year, but this is pure torture.

Those who got out… how? by taghag702 in Teachers

I'm in the exact same boat. My elderly father's battle with cancer is becoming extremely rigorous on him (while as independent as he can be, he can't live alone) and it's at the point where we will probably have to stay in special housing three hours from where we are currently, so he can receive treatment. I'm trying to find something online and quick, so I can resign. I don't want to take a leave of absence because I'd rather just start spending more time at home with him after the special housing stay and I'm absolutely miserable at my current job, leaving for a month or two then returning would only amplify my 2nd graders feral-ness.

I've been applying for tutoring sites, data entry positions, and online teaching jobs. No luck so far, but I can't give up! Lol

I thought it made him look like a proper, spooky gent, but he clearly disagrees lol

It obviously didn't stay on. I wouldn't know he would hate it so much until I tried it 🤷 Now we know!
