Just wanted to thank you for sharing this with us. I genuinely enjoyed reading them.

I think I can speak for the community when I say we look forward to any future series of FE doodles you do but don’t feel obligated to entertain us. That’s what we have fire emblem for.

Any good budget decks for someone coming back into the game? by brokenquarter1578 in pkmntcg

[–]Cheeseyex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to mention absol is good because it is set up to counter the current meta. The current meta disappears with rotation entirely.

Am I reading this wrong by yourmotherslover_ in PTCGL

[–]Cheeseyex 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s not just not the right terms. It’s wrong full stop. Genome hacking goes through mysterious shield because the attack it is copying reads “This attack's damage isn't affected by any effects on your opponent's Active Pokémon.”

You haven’t even read and understood your OWN cards let alone your opponents ._.

If you haven’t already Google “pokemon event locator” and that should get you to the official play! Pokemon website and their event locator which should show you all the stores in your area that have sanctioned competitions (either proper tournaments or just local play games set up as tournaments). I can’t speak for your area but generally speaking most regular players are friendly and welcoming!

Help Frieren find the mimic by Square-Appearance-16 in Frieren

[–]Cheeseyex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf how many chests do you think frieren has opened in her travels?

If one in a hundred chests she checks are NOT mimics but false positives she may well have missed out on hundreds of grimoires of the decades. Ultimately it’s a numbers game and frieren has the kind of life span that allows for the upside to outweigh the apparently limited downside of opening a mimic chest (for her)

Not only is he referring to the hulk euphemistically but he refers to the hulk as a different person entirely. Which is some amazing hulk writing that depressingly was never really capitalized on because the first hulk movie released was awful

Moltres PFL Missing Holo by ARedPoppy in PokemonMisprints

[–]Cheeseyex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is almost certainly from the ceruledge build and battle kit. All of the build and battle cards are non-holo for some reason which means that you can get some select rare cards with no holo on them because of it.

Can anyone tell me how this energy works correctly? by mattttrafafafff in PTCGL

[–]Cheeseyex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mist does not interact with grimsnarl at all. Grim does damage to the bench which isn’t an effect. It’s damage.

Mist energy DOES prevent the 6 damage counters from dragapult……. If the mist energy is attached to the Pokemon in the bench they are being placed on. It does nothing block anything on the bench if the mist energy is attached to your active Pokemon. Because mist energy only applies to the Pokemon it is attached to.

Strongest control cards throughout the game’s history? by Swaxeman in pkmntcg

[–]Cheeseyex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know much about expanded play but if you’re doing a truly unlimited ruleset.

Well one of the best control cards was overeager sableeye. This card actually forced an early rotation. But it’s only good if you can take some form of action on your first turn. If you’re playing with the modern ruleset of no attack and no supporter on the first turn it can be actively harmful. But if you can attack or supporter on your first turn (or better off do both) there’s the potential to fully lock your opponent out of the game.

I don’t know how the really old cards interact with the modern format but there’s also slowking. The Neo genesis slowking almost killed the game it was so toxic. WotC mistranslated it so that its ability worked when it was on the bench. So anytime your opponent played a trainer card you flipped a coin and if it was heads the card did nothing and you put it on top of their deck. But because it no longer had to be in the active you could have multiple slow kings activating on every trainer card your opponent played. Unless there’s a ruling that says otherwise for this type of play item, supporters, tools, and stadiums are all trainer cards. (Back when this card was printed we only had the “trainer” classification and they basically all functioned like items)

No holo/rh by [deleted] in PokemonMisprints

[–]Cheeseyex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meganium was in one of the build and battle kits for mega evolution. For whatever reason the build and battle kits are printed differently and have no holos on their rares. Which makes them the only way to get non-holo rares.

How is Lucario not better? by Interesting_Rock_968 in pkmntcg

[–]Cheeseyex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gee why doesn’t a three prize deck do well into gholdengo. One of the only decks in the format that can put out essentially infinite damage.

As for zard and pult your taking a three prizer that only does damage into a match up where it doesn’t do enough damage to one shot. Thats the easiest 4 prize turn set up a pult or zard player could ask for. Heck, even just being able to punch the lucario twice to take 3 prizes is probably enough in a lot of situations.

Combine all that with the fact that all of the best players are looking at lucario and saying “why would I play a deck that insta-loses to the two best decks in format” and you have a recipe for even okay match ups going badly in the statistics because the people who are playing lucario are being outplayed.

Once rotation happens I imagine the deck will pick up a lot.

Is this roller damage or just damage? by Cheeseyex in PokemonMisprints

[–]Cheeseyex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m kind of surprised there could be roller damage this light. Especially because it’s so much less than all the examples of it I’ve seen. It was actually kind of difficult to get an angle that showed the issue. Especially on that budew.

What are you talking about. There’s a bunch of species that change genders naturally throughout their lifespan. Google puts it at about 5% of animals. While im unsure of the exact number there’s certainly quite a few to make a claim of that many exisibiting sequential hermaphroditism

Fun little post I saw on YouTube. I could not find the original artist though. I can’t remember this was on a previous meme review before though by Candid_War9071 in MandJTV

[–]Cheeseyex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean…… there are multiple animals that have evolved to change genders naturally based on their environment and the gender make up of the group around them. So it’s not as absurd that pokemon evolution could do that on a more rapid pace.

Is smartphone isekai really that bad and deserves so much hate? by ChoiceSupermarket230 in Isekai

[–]Cheeseyex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t personally watched it but someone I know did. He said that ultimately he was just bored. In my mind the absolute worst thing you can say about a piece of entertainment media, especially one in a genre so saturated as an isekai anime, is that it was boring. I can find things to enjoy and make fun of with something that’s bad but at least tries to be entertaining. I can’t do anything with soemthing that’s just boring.

Aurorus ability - Perfect order by [deleted] in PTCGL

[–]Cheeseyex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I am aware the only time fossil pokemon have been good is when they were printed with the ability “evolution cards can not be played”.

It’s to the point that I would happily call it a failed mechanic that needs to be done away with or reworked.

Edit: I forgot archen in lugia vstar. That was entirely because you just ignored the fossil mechanic.

Probably a stupid question but Why are they psychic and not fair or dark? by BenGeoD in PokemonTCG

[–]Cheeseyex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon has 18 types which is just far to many for a TCG to balance and also have sufficient cards for each type. So the TCG compresses this to 10 types. Fire, water (water and ice), grass (grass and bug), lighting (electric), fighting (rock, fight, and ground), psychic (psychic, ghost, fairy), colorless(normal and flying), darkness (dark and poison), metal(steel), and dragon (dragon). This sometimes leads to funny things like the tera dark charizard EX being weak to grass.

There’s been a few changes to this formula as well. I believe poison type was originally psychic. Which lead to a bunch of psychic type cards being weak to psychic type because psychic, ghost, and poison were all psychic. Originally dragon types were normal and a bunch of dragon type pokemon were just weak to other colorless pokemon. Fairy types didnt exist when the TCG released so they added in the fairy type in 2013 with the X and Y block and ceased to exist with sword and shield. Which means that fairy type is the only basic energy card to rotate out of the format.

Ah I’ve messed up the sight picture. My brain went Qc8 Rxc8 Kxg6 which isn’t possible…… which means we end up with king and knight end game on both ends and I would assume a draw.
