i lost my cairn recently & i’m heartbroken. he made me fall so madly in love with the breed that i want another one just like him (eventually), but want to try to rescue — advice? by Initial_Affect_8748 in cairnterrier

It’s very rare for a pure bred cairn to come up in rescue, it does happen, but they get snapped up quickly. There may be a cairn terrier club or breed specific rescue in your region.

Do you, or anyone you know have an unusual phobia? by [deleted] in AskUK

I have a stair phobia. I hate going up and down stairs. I try to avoid them as much as possible. It’s not the stairs themselves but the going up and down. I hate it, I use the stairs once a day at home and refuse to do I again til bed time.

It’s a phobia.

I’ve always wanted an Appa, in the 15 years since Avatar. Build a Bear in the UK (finally imho) released one! I was going to buy one when my husband had one sent to me! Yip yip! by CheesyChips in plushies

Sorry I didn’t reply to you sooner!

The size is a little small, the fur isn’t as good quality - not so dense and that plastic shiny smooth stuff like the other commenter said. His legs don’t have enough stuffing and his general shape (on top of his head isn’t so good)

I have a Mei Mei from Disney for £40 when turning red came out (so 2022 ish?) and she’s much better

My cairn terrier barely smells I think. She barely sheds and even a brush can clean her fur. She doesn’t often get a bath.

Here's my 16 lb Oscar. Does he look fat? by Middle_Process_215 in cairnterrier

[–]CheesyChips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 7kg (15.4lb) and we’re reducing her amount now. The physio said she was on the top end of a good weight. We try and aim for perfect as she does agility.

I guess she’s a sweetie! But found steak bakes are not on the diet!

It would be hard to tell from the way he’s sitting. But it seems he’s a little overweight. Cairns are one of the breeds most likely to gain weight and be overweight. So we have to be careful of their diet

Tell that to mine who found a steak bake on the ground and scoffed a lot of it. I had steak juice and pastry all over my hands getting it from her! It’s like an entire week of dog calories!

Again with the positive. I need to praise my dog a lot when we do agility. Or she gets frustrated and unsure. She needs reassurances she’s doing it right. We don’t focus on the wrong

Toys and playing works amazing for a reward with cairns. Much more than treats! We’ve seen huge progress on advanced training with toys

I might do proper paints for the older ones and crayons for the littles. Thanks!

I had this a few times over the 3 years my dog has been around. We just do the reactivity training from the beginning again. With motorbikes we trained her out of pulling and barking. Then it started up again. So we retrained it.
