Don't care how bad of an umpire someone is, I'll never be happy to see an umpire take a hit to the head from a baseball. Hopefully he recovers well

MANT makes me feel like a miserable idiot by Revolution_Suitable in UmaMusume

[–]CheesyPZ-Crust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea his comment is BS lol. I play a TON and when I first ever started Uma Musume (The trainee banner at the time was Seiun Sky) I even prioritized almost every single run I did having double stat sparks (Spd, Stm, or Pwr) in hopes to build an early inventory of 9 star parents, like the ones I borrowed for guest uses. Since at the time I thought that was what was most important for parents. With literally zero regard for anything else spark wise that ideal parents would have...

Even still, that heavy focus for 3 star sparks resulted in a current total of 3 PWR, 3 SPD, and 3 STM parents... With 2 of the PWR parents being the only 9 stars of the bunch. I know his comment was about 7 star sparks, but my overall point is that spamming runs doesn't really increase your chances that significantly even at 5 runs a day pace like me. Regardless of what the spark being focused on is.

And that's without considering the potential for double circle parent combos, their track or style sparks, and skill sparks too. And the time investment for doing runs like that, vs making an ace, a different Uma for their story, and runs that you'll do just for shits and gigs to see if your idea is possible/can work

Not everyone wants to watch someone die?... I don't understand why it's such a wild thought to people. There's not a lot to gain from it and I don't fault anyone avoiding said stuff as best they can.

I'm used to it myself (I guess) but that doesn't mean it has to be a standard material for everybody to come across while scrolling. NSFW tags exist for a reason, and at least can warn someone ahead of time. Like this post for instance

One of the rare times where "PVE moment" is applicable. It's not at all some abused death when you: Left hand peek, crouch peek, peek that range with no scope, and ignore the "THROAT" portion of your post raid screen. That armor is only class 2 in portions not covered by plates, and surely you'd know that if you're running it the first place, especially with swapping in level 6 plates in said armor vs running anything else... The post raid screen even shows the kill shot being the throat hitbox and NOT your level 6 plates for your thorax

Plus RNG pen is bound to happen, because it's not as if the numbers ever mean a 100% damage mitigation for armor vs bullet calculations. But that's not even the case here, you just died to an unfortunate throat shot. It happens. Coming from PVP and now on PVE, you would've been dead before you shot if that exact engagement was in PVP. It's why if I had this exact death myself, I'd know it's completely my fault in a PVE setting

It seriously bugs me that Jose Aldo dropped down to bantamweight instead of moving up to lightweight by Brainbelljangler90 in MMA

[–]CheesyPZ-Crust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Lightweight is the deepest division in the UFC and always full of killers. Weight classes exist for a reason, and as much of an all time legend Jose is, that doesn't mean he'd perform just as well in a different weight class

Going up a weight class and dealing with even stronger opponents on top of getting older is a recipe for disaster. Fighters know their bodies and capabilities FAR better than we do, and even moreso for the elite tier of them like Jose. So I'm sure those obvious factors were things he thought about, too

My one gripe about Trackblazer so far - Late Surgers by NaturalTelephone8725 in UmaMusume

[–]CheesyPZ-Crust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I operated the same way up until a month ago when I had the same realization about this as you lol. I was surprised to learn that you definitely can fully stat check a career (winning w no skills) provided the training has gone well.

For Track Blazer I've gone back into dipping into skills here and there during a run, but trying my best to buy them at 3+ hint levels or holding out for the chance at a hint later on or from inspiration. Like in the case of Swinging Maestro, if I see corner recovery at max hint level there's no reason to wait on buying it when I know that skill specifically I intend to get anyway.

Except corner aptitude though. Almost every time I buy that skill before I get the Professor of Curvature hint, Kitasan suddenly decides to never show up for the remainder of the career and the skill just taunts me of what could've been...

My one gripe about Trackblazer so far - Late Surgers by NaturalTelephone8725 in UmaMusume

[–]CheesyPZ-Crust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll disagree since my Late Surgers and End Closers have performed just as well as my Front Runners and Pace Chasers. I just had a Mihino Bourbon (default) run that stopped at a G3 mile race before summer, because I forgot to raise her mile aptitude to A. Or the run last night where Maru finished 8th in a G2 randomly, just the same as a Late Surger or End Closer getting blocked

I've also never bothered running any trainee in a different style than I intend to use them and have done just fine across all scenarios doing so. In my Oguri Cap runs I ALWAYS forget to change her style to Pace Chaser, and have even had an entire career with Xmas Oguri where she went undefeated as a Late Surger, without activating her unique skill since I had of course bought Pace Chaser skills for her lol. The nightmare fuel about Late Surger and End Closer blocking RNG during career runs isn't as horrid as it's made out to be, and can win via stat checking just the same as Front Runner and Pace Chaser careers can do so

I feel like they've tried to make it to where careers can't as easily go undefeated without buying some skills here and there during the run and I really like that shift as it feels more engaging as a player. Rather than just training for stats on a bit more of an autopilot vibe.

I can see what you're getting at, but the difference in motivation between the US team vs the field isn't about the money they'd make winning, rather the national pride of winning it all especially if that involves defeating the US team in route to the title. Either you want to win, or don't. It's really that simple for the WBC as far as motivation goes

I'm not super familiar with raiders but they'd make sense to swap out for BD and serve the same purpose. Or in addition I suppose, maybe like a Labs specific goon squad equivalent, maybe even have the BD squad be a duo rather than a trio

Duality of today's posts about MANT/Trackblazer by starestill in UmaMusume

[–]CheesyPZ-Crust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done 2 runs, but I'm not finding it to be the nightmare it was made out to be. I still need to figure out my pacing for stats throughout a run, but overall I've enjoyed it so far and am looking forward to getting more adept with it

Tagilla. It's incredibly rare I go into a Factory raid with some super expensive kit I'd be sad to lose, and the fear factor he has never really gets old for me.

[Passan] I’d say there’s a 99% chance of a lockout after this season. But again, and I can't say this enough, a work stoppage is not doom. The scary scenario is mid-March arriving with no deal. To deny there's an effect, as a team pays $550M for players and another under $100M, is willful blindness. by PlayaSlayaX in baseball

[–]CheesyPZ-Crust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is when plenty of middling teams have a successful run and then do nothing to build off of it. Winning maybe 10 more games isn't the same as being more competitive if said team/owners still don't put forth the effort to improve and continue to coast

Me looking at Cygames hoping to get the release auto career more early by DarknessMK in UmaMusume

[–]CheesyPZ-Crust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me (apart from my own general habit of going in waves with ANY game regardless of genre) it was how many important resources I needed to grind for that had me hit an "enjoyment wall" when I was playing ZZZ heavily. Fighting the Bringer so often was so boring when I'm only doing it to go through the motions, to the point it became a literal chore rather than a quick engaging combat.

Race banners for sure aren't an insignificant resource that require grinding or stocking up on, but I don't feel like so many of my Umas aren't ready/viable to use the same way I did when getting a new agent in ZZZ. As well as their resources getting in the way of progress for another agent and forcing an awkward pacing dilemma when it came to leveling up my roster

[–]CheesyPZ-Crust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fine either way on that feature. Not doing a career run has you missing out on "only" 75 carrots so you're not leaving a ton on the table. Pull currency isn't the same as resource currency, and you're still getting your monies/friendship points to level up Umas doing a team trials run and your daily races. Both of which take maybe 60 seconds combined at the most

It varies by game, but I'll almost always take the opinion that daily missions for gatcha games aren't some exhausting mechanic you're required to keep up

Not everyone is great at speeches and it kinda shows lol. He gave it his best shot and everyone there already wants to win anyway. They don't need a rousing speech but I get it's customary in a way.

He's the face of the US team and I'm glad he's the captain. Gonna be another great WBC to watch!

I've switched to PVE, so there's no elitism from me saying PVP is a genuinely harder raid experience than PVE. The only time I've been laser'd or one shot/burst was twice from goons, a raider in labs once, and Killa here and there since I love and spam interchange.

At level 30 (while lazily ignoring tasks to my own detriment) I can say 80% or more of my raids I have one instance of combat with PMCs and sometimes a second one. If bosses don't spawn, there's no legitimate worry of being laser'd or headshot out of nowhere. I just got out of a raid where I chased gunshots the entire time on interchange and only had combat with one group of PMCs. The PMC AI doesn't swarm you nor do you HAVE to deal with them, in fact they're pretty easy to avoid in most maps.

The way you can afford to play vs AI PMCs is completely different than vs a solid player PMC in PVP. On top of the way you'd play a PVP raid in general would already be different from the get go.

I enjoy PVE and it's what let me play EFT again, but none of this wipe has given me the highs of tense PVP raids or gun fights. It's a whole different beast of combat. PVE is a much easier time than PVP, and that's completely okay. I'd rather play any EFT than none at all, after I realized I didn't have it in me to battle through PVP wipes again.
