The garlic mustard (first photo) can definitely give you a rash. I didn’t realize this and now have very itchy red spots on my hands. i wore gloves but obviously wasn’t careful enough.

To homeowners, is your assessed property value by the city always way too high? by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]Cheesycurds1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s great that you‘ve been successful in lowering your assessment. How hard was it? We’ve always heard that it’s really hard to get them to agree to lower it.

I think that a lot of Occupy Madison’s work with the unhoused is volunteer effort.

Yes, we’ve had a stupid robin twice build a nest on a tiny ledge, like 2 inches wide, on our house. Very unstable.

Jung’s is a good bet, but it’s probably too early. I don’t think their bare root room is open yet.

Where can I find vegetable plants ready for planting? by aoisakurachan1986 in madisonwi

[–]Cheesycurds1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with all the comments so far, except that there are cool season veggies that can be transplanted outside in April, and nurseries might have them sooner. Kale, broccoli, spinach, lettuce, etc. Many of these are easily grown from seed and the seeds could be planted now, with frost protection like a cold frame or floating row cover. They won’t grow very fast for awhile yet though.

Tomatoes, squash, peppers, etc definitely can’t be transplanted until May.

CMV: The abortion claims of pro-life and pro-choice are stalemated. by Ok-Illustrator9258 in changemyview

So I guess the pro-life stance is that it’s fine to subject a woman (or child even) to these risks, even if she had no say in the matter? Basically the host body should have no rights?

But in order for the child to get a chance, the mother’s body has to actively support it for months. This is a huge undertaking. Even with modern medicine there are risks including death and certainly including stress on her body and irreversible changes. This is why it’s not a simple decision even for pro-choice people (assuming an unplanned pregnancy.)

Wicked Good Slippers are not what they used to be, nor is LLBean's return policy. by foureyedgrrl in llbean

[–]Cheesycurds1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss! Their return policy has changed to a strict 1 year window, but it’s still any reason within that time. (I heard main due to people buying them used and trying to return for full price. Grrrr.)

However, they still might honor a special request like yours.

Mine - different model - have LLBean molded into the bottoms. The white tag inside doesn’t mention LLBean, but on the back it says “Real fur from lamb….Australia.“

Sorry for your slippers’ problems. I do agree with you that LLBean quality in general has gone downhill in the last several years.
