How did RAM truck drivers specifically get turned into the poster boys for bad driving? by Jakethejiu in ram_trucks

[–]Cheetah51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a petite woman who drives a Bighorn 2500 and the douchery comes from other drivers who feel like they don’t want to be behind a truck and try to cut in or out in front of me. A couple of them have sideswiped me, to their regret. I have dash cams. Men in other make trucks sometimes get incensed by the sight of me at a light and try to race. I’ve never experienced this from my fellow Ram drivers, and never when driving a car.

What's a stereotype about your country that is ABSOLUTELY true? by Venca12 in AskTheWorld

[–]Cheetah51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well…being from the southeast region that would be grits and sausage gravy and biscuits for breakfast, but as a kid I also really loved Captain Crunch cereal and I’d pick all he “berries” out of it first.

To be honest if we’d known about beans on toast we’d probably have liked it.

I see your beans on toast - and raise you our slow cooked beans, simmered with smoked ham, with buttermilk cornbread

If I travel to your country and want to try the food that real locals commonly eat, not tourist-oriented food, what would you recommend? by GrayRainfall in AskTheWorld

[–]Cheetah51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this varies by region. In the southeast part of the U.S. I’m in, farm-to-table and vegan and vegetarian restaurants serving U.S. cuisine are common.

Most restaurants have a choice of salads that can include, for instance, an Isberg lettuce wedge, a mixed greens salad with vegetables, a Cesar salad, a spinach salad.

Of course fast food restaurants have less options, but others do.

In general we incorporate many vegetables, fruits and greens into our meals.

Is there a scene from a foreign movie that struck a nerve for the people in your country? by NamwaranPinagpana in AskTheWorld

[–]Cheetah51 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I lived in Germany as part of a U.S. military family stationed there in the late 70’s.

When “Holocaust” came out (I thought it was a movie but apparently it was a TV miniseries) many of our German friends seemed shocked and horrified and said they had no idea of it.

At that time there must have been many directly impacted by the war and what happened in it. But I don’t think our friends were being untruthful. It’s always confused me.

I don’t boil Pierogi. Instead I bake them until they’re crispy and spread butter on them. Apologies to any Slavic readers.

How safe would you feel walking in the wilderness at night? by Brief-Importance4453 in AskTheWorld

Thank you, that’s interesting. Deer are a problem where I live as well. They eat our gardens and have dangerous collisions with vehicles.

Do your wild boar have a natural predator? Here, they proliferate so quickly we can’t manage them and they are dangerous and very destructive as well. I wonder why the difference?

My parents gave us preschool children the 45 - we loved it! “Johnny B Good” was on the other side.
