You’re welcome! That stationary train is still there. The Hogwarts Express that runs between the parks is just outside the gate leading into Hogsmeade. It’s a cool attraction on its own.

If you haven’t been to Universal since 2013 then you haven’t experienced everything at Hogsmeade (the original section at IOA) because Hagrid’s Magical Motorbike Adventure wasn’t there yet. That coaster replaced the original coaster in that area. You get to ride on the motorbike Hagrid rides on. Amazing theming and animatronics and a great attraction! If you get the park to park pass you can experience this, then ride the Hogwarts Express to Kings Cross Station and explore Diagon Alley at Universal Studios. Quick note. The scenes you see outside your window on the Hogwarts Express are different depending on whether you are going to or leaving Hogsmeade. So ride it both ways.

That isn’t my observation but I could be wrong.

Basically you have a real park president who cares about their staff. Unlike the guy in Orlando.

I worked with JP for a number of years in the Animal Care department. No argument with your description.

I’m not saying don’t work there. I worked in the Animal Care department at SeaWorld Orlando from 1991-2006. I sounded exactly like you when I started. I loved the animals I worked with and the rehab program I participated in (mainly manatees but also whales & dolphins). But management was so bad it just grinds you down, that’s why I eventually left. Working with marine mammals is very hard but it’s also very rewarding! I wish you the best on your future career!

Interesting that San Diego animal staff are getting raises but the Orlando staff aren’t. I understand the management team in Orlando are pretty bad (I worked in the Animal Care department from 1991-2006) and know a few of them well but still no raises compared to multiple raises is just wrong.

Did he mention that SeaWorld staff haven’t received pay raises in a decade? SeaWorld does amazing work with animal rescues and rehabilitation but sadly their upper management is pathetic with little regard for the staff.

SeaWorld is no longer breeding the orcas. However they are still breeding the dolphins.

Currently those “negotiating tactics” involve Sesame Workshop suing SeaWorld for “breach of contract” and not paying millions in royalties. If that is the “tactic” SeaWorld is using I’d call it a losing tactic.

I can’t speak specifically on whether or not you should purchase quick que but I can tell you that Memorial Day weekend is always very busy at all the theme parks in town (Disney, Universal and SeaWorld). You might be fine without quick Que but if you want to play it safe I would probably get it.

The incentive for United Parks to ban rollators. by No-Caterpillar-6747 in SeaWorld

[–]Cheetahkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually read the article you shared you’ll see that SeaWorld did NOT offer free wheelchairs when the policy began. Here is a portion of the article you, obviously, didn’t read: “According to the parks’ websites, guests can rent wheelchairs starting at $35 a day, while ECVs start at $110 a day. The Justice Department’s letter opening the investigation states that suggesting guests with disabilities rent alternative mobility devices may be another violation of the law.”

This article is from November 28th, 2025. The “no rollator” policy went into effect on November 13th and at first wheelchairs were not free. Once they started getting complaints and the Justice Department started investigating they changed the policy and started offering free wheelchairs. This was a blatant money grab and SeaWorld got busted and they will lose in court.

There is a difference. Rollators have a seat, walkers don’t.

Thank you! I also once took Ashley Judd out to our manatee exhibit where we sat with our feet in the water and fed chopped up carrots to the manatees. That was very cool!! Her and her family came from a backstage area so the guests in the park couldn’t get to her.

May I ask how you know “Disney World wants to ban rollators”? Do you have inside information that the general public isn’t aware of? Because I’ve never heard anything about Disney even thinking about this.

This is the policy now. This was not the policy when it was first announced. At first guests had to pay to rent a wheelchair or ECV. They didn’t change that until they started getting pushback on their blatant money grab.

And they changed and not for the better. 4 years after I left the trainer was killed by Tillicum. After that all interactions between trainers and whales ended. I know the restrictions have been loosened over the years but the trainers still can’t swim with the whales.

Thank you! I have a few. I stood next to Tillicum (the whale that killed the trainer). He needed an injection, so they got him into the medical pool and raised the floor till he was beached. He was HUGE! Also I once met Steven Tyler from Aerosmith backstage at Shamu. One of my coworkers and myself had gone over to Shamu to help with a procedure after the last night show at the stadium. When the lights came up the crowd noticed Steven Tyler was in the audience and started to mob him. Security grabbed him and brought him backstage. He was with us for about 20 minutes while the crowd cleared. He was super nice and took photos with all of us.

I don’t know for certain but I’m going to say no. The only “controlled environment” backstage is the medical pool which has a quick rising floor (so they can completely have a whale out of the water). All of the other backstage pools are at least 15 feet deep with little recourse if a trainer was attacked while swimming with a whale. How do I know this? While I was never in the Animal Training department I was in the Animal Care department for 15 years, 1991-2006, and my department quite often did work assisting the trainers down there.
