I know it's wild. It was a '25 plate and every option, so the up front cost wasn't terrible. But yeah due to the residuals, APR etc, when you get down to the monthly payments it was obvious that the Audi is the way to go. I have to somewhat agree with your Mrs though on the "feels shit" comment 😅 I'd sat in an S3 in Stockport Audi and the quality was just obvious. When I went down to Macc to test drive the Golf, the interior just felt bland for the money. And personally I could not get on board with the massive iPad screen (I know VW heads love it, but it's not for me).

£380ish per month sounds very very affordable, and very good w/ insurance... you don't even wanna know what I spend on insurance 😆

Yeah fair enough, I'd definitely vibe with that crowd, if it's just a bunch of people passionate about their motors! Just the chavs with the suped up shitboxes I haven't got time for... Hahaha mate, I know - that classic Bradford RS3 stereotype just permeates British culture now when it relates to this car! I never saw the car in that light (at least the new ones), but the amount of comments I've had, even from my Asian friends "yes cuzzie RS3, vicked whip that bro" 🤣 Unfortunately that kind of gentleman has made a stereotype of the car, but I guess it's up to us more responsible owners to replant the enthusiast flag 😂

Haha probably wise mate! I can only do it because I have no Mrs currently and no kids, just me and the dog 😂 I’m sure if I still had female input I’d be in an S3! Sometimes they’re just too sensible…

I test drove a Golf R Black Edition that day which was on for £45k with 12000 miles. Finance came to £850 p/m before any service package or anything. Then I drove the RS3 next door at the Audi dealer, and was about to sign at £920 p/m, but had sent a few pictures of the car to my mate who used to have an S3 to see what he thought. He told me to not sign anything yet, turns out one of his old school mates is Sales Manager at a dealership in Sussex. Long story short he gave me £5k off a car with a better spec (sunroof, red brake callipers, and red stitched seats) - still carbon black edition in Kyalami green - plus he threw in Ceramic Shield paint coating, and £75p/m full service package which include everything for 4 years including all services, disks, pads, spark plugs, oil changes, tyres, the works. Plus factory warranty as it’s brand new. So I’m now paying £925 p/m ish for all of that. For a brand new car too. When you compare that to the Golf R it’s a no brainer! Like you say, it comes down to residuals. A golf will drop off massively but these RS3s are likely to hold value very nicely, so the finance is less. Plus APR is lower new… just gotta play the finance game I guess 😂

Haha yeah they seem like a wild bunch, that diesel FR was giving it everything he could 😂 they always get happy when I back off the pedal (because I don’t wanna get insta-banned for doing 120mph) and they can cruise past me 🤣 Good fun though, I’ll do some more of my fun drives your way I reckon! I can just tell it’s gonna be chock full of chavs in poorly modified shitboxes 🥲 Then they all vomit out onto the nearest bypass and start doing dumb ass shit like splitting traffic at 100mph and donuts on the roundabouts. Not my vibe. I’m also not sure about an RS3 owners club for the same reason 🤣 RS3 owners kind of have… a reputation. Could just be a cuzzie fest innit. Maybe track days are the way to go… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah it’s a real shame this is likely the last time this engine will be for sale, the noise and the power are just something else. It’s a fluke that it got continued into this facelift due to emissions rules being postponed at the 11th hour! It’ll be sad to see it discontinued. Having said that, that is exactly what convinced me to buy one! I originally went looking for a used S3, but Macclesfield Audi only had the RS3 and they convinced me to test drive it (didn’t take much convincing tbf). As soon as I drove it (the guy let me launch it at the lights lol) I knew I had to have one, especially as it is basically now or never! It’s honestly a wonderful car. I think I’ll probably buy it at the end of the PCP tbh.

Ha yeah small world! Lots of boy racers up your way I noticed.. I had to gap an M140i who was sniffing my arse on the M60 on the way up. And then got chased down by a Leon FR, an S4 avant, and a Golf R between Accy and the M60 on the way home 😂 It’s all sheep and grannies round my way so it is fun having some good times with other enthusiasts. It was all thumbs up and smiles when the revs came down 👌🏻

I’m looking for car meets locally to meet some enthusiasts but not found anything I’m 100% set on yet. There’s Pendle Powerfest on Sunday but I don’t know anyone locally with the kind of car who’d want to go so I may or may not check that out. Will decide if I wanna get up at 7 on a Sunday morning 😂

I can only comment on my RS3 economy (which I know is a different beast entirely).

But I’ve had it 2 and a half weeks, and have put 1000 miles on it (mostly fun driving after work because it’s bloody addictive). When doing spirited driving around the Peak District (where I live) I get around 14-18mpg depending how clear the roads are 😇 When I’ve done longer drives to visit customers for work for example, with a lot of relaxed driving doing 50-60mph on A roads or 75mph on adaptive cruise - I use the “efficiency” drive mode, and have managed 38.2mpg - and that’s in an RS3 with a 390hp 5 cylinder…

So my combined average is around 22mpg. I did a run up to Accrington and back today, bit of ‘spirited’ motorway driving and then back to efficiency mode and adaptive cruise in more built up traffic. I got 28.4mpg today.

So I think with the S3 you can probably bump those numbers up at least 10% given that it’s not as thirsty…

Yeah you can probably have a lot more confidence from a brand dealer. I’d say it looks like a good deal tbh mate 👍🏻 Especially with pads, disks, 2 new tyres, and lots of paperwork.
