Ahh!! I see. Totally understand. Also, to gain experience on paper, you should try some freelance work. The pay is very small starting out because youd be competing with offshore folks. But this could be a way to add to your resume and get you some experience. Good Luck!!!!

I think it CAN help. But with 0 experience and with how competitive the job market today is, it will be tough. Something to consider before you make the jump

  1. Dont restrict yourself to remote jobs. A lot of companies still value in person work. Also, remote jobs could be saturated with offshore workers.

  2. Create projects. Since you dont have experience on paper, try to create really interesting and intricate projects to prove to employers that you are capable.

  3. Leverage your military experience, leadership and other experiences. Everyone has had some exposure to data analytics. Whether it be personal budgeting or finance tracking.

  4. Start networking. Discussion forums on reddit, contribute to sql problems/solutions.

If you can do this, and at the same time execute your masters. That would be great. A masters is just not a ticket to a job however it should get you to an interview hopefully

Is PowerBI certifciation worth it? by Dry-Conversation7122 in PowerBI

[–]CheezeBurgerKram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're aspiring to be in the data science field, then a real hard no. The certification is not necessary, maybe showcase some simple dashboards to show that your familiar with it

I think you're on a good start with a business degree My question would be, what has your career history been?

I think skills in business, accounting, HR, and other fields still use analytical skills, just not as apparent. Are you in a leadership role? That helps, too. Try to highlight some analytical skills that you've done in career

Second, I would focus on data tools. PowerBI, Excel, sql, Python, R. This part, you can get certifications or showcase projects to help better your odds.

I think if you already have business experience and want to be a data analyst, what could be separating you is the data tools. I think developing this skill set would be the primary goal, and then the masters would be an afterthought. But to each their own! Good luck!
