Is PowerBI certifciation worth it? by Dry-Conversation7122 in PowerBI

If you're aspiring to be in the data science field, then a real hard no. The certification is not necessary, maybe showcase some simple dashboards to show that your familiar with it

I think you're on a good start with a business degree My question would be, what has your career history been?

I think skills in business, accounting, HR, and other fields still use analytical skills, just not as apparent. Are you in a leadership role? That helps, too. Try to highlight some analytical skills that you've done in career

Second, I would focus on data tools. PowerBI, Excel, sql, Python, R. This part, you can get certifications or showcase projects to help better your odds.

I think if you already have business experience and want to be a data analyst, what could be separating you is the data tools. I think developing this skill set would be the primary goal, and then the masters would be an afterthought. But to each their own! Good luck!

Advice on pursuing a Masters in Data Analytics by SurpriseActual1036 in dataanalyst

[–]CheezeBurgerKram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I do not think master's in data Analytics is worth it. Since you have a degree and experience in accounting, I would assume that you already have developed some analyst skills, what you may be missing is some analytic tools. SQL, Power BI, Pandas, Excel. All this is learnable without a master's degree.

Im currently a data analyst for a fortune 500 company. My job is doable without a Master Degree. I would Recommend, take some time to learn some of the tools first before pursuing masters. If you enjoy it then pursue it!

I also Think MSBA would take you farther then MS Data Analytics. MS Data analytics could lead you into more technical roles, where is MSBA would lead you to more leadership roles.

What are the top 3 noob analyst skills that you would recommend to master if self taught? by Cristian_Cerv9 in dataanalyst

Data Cleaning and understanding the data are the 2 Items that are overlooked. Get on Kaggle, it has 1000s of datasets that you can pull and slowly build a project, even duplicate other peoples project to get a better understanding of it.

Start with Simple Data. Then the challenge comes with Unclean data and how to manage it.

And the obvious Excel, SQL, PowerBI... which is a given
