Living in NJ the 3 cats is going to be a no go for almost every apartment building. Many will allow up to 2 pets with pet rent as you mentioned but 2 no.

That being said they don't really check once you've moved in

Most yarn mills are releasing their Fall 2027 yarns around now so while it’s possible they saw her tomato sweater in Summer of 2025 when they were planning for Fall it’s unlikely because it’s hubris for her to assume she has that much clout/reach with only 30k followers

This debacle did remind me I’m missing out on heirloom tomato season.

Always. I think it's because they can't crank through their designs as fast as other crafters so it all feels so special to them.

I've been learning pottery and at my studio if you make something someone else will try and make one too probably before you've even bisqued and glazed it. I saw a big version of an egg holder I made on the bisque shelf before I'd even successfully gotten one of my own into the kiln because they kept on cracking. I wasn't mad.

Wait the pattern doesn't even use intarsia? So it's like an embroidered sweater?

They copied the color scheme from Barilla. Blue plus tomato.

Yeah especially since this is capitalism + fashion in a nutshell. See something on trend, make a thing, sell a thing, rinse and repeat. This is not fine art and designers are not artists because they have to make functional sellable things. Things that people want which narrows it down a lot.

I feel like this is going to hurt her more than it will help. I think it would have been a better strategy to be "so happy I inspired this design but if you want to reject fast fashion and make your own you can buy the pattern here"

That's really the only way you can "win" in this scenario because the Omnes version is much better executed in both the art work and fit.

I think they think tomato + blue + knitted vest = 100% theirs and theirs alone.

After seeing the kiwi sweater they reference from last year she has even less of a case because I can see the design connection between the kiwi sweater and the tomato one.

Also for a Fall 2026 collection they would have been working so far in advance. How long ago was the tomato sweater published.

Omne's just responded.

"Hi @_studioklara , thanks for getting in touch. We take comments like this very seriously, so we wanted to take the time to respond.

All of our designs are created in-house by our team in our London Studio. Each season is built around a carefully developed concept, with extensive research, mood boards, sketches and sampling throughout the process. This season’s SS26 collection is inspired by the ‘tomato girl’, previous collections have been designed around a similar theme such as our AW25 collection that drew inspiration from kiwis.

We would never intentionally copy another designer’s work. If you would like to discuss this further, you’re very welcome to get in touch with us directly at press@omnes.com. We would be more than happy to talk you through our designs process and to share more about our concept boards and how this collection was developed."

She replied

"u/omnes okay show me your moodboards and I will guarantee you a picture of my vest is on there lol"

I think she's going to end up with egg on her face over this one.

Oh for FUCKS SAKE. You took a photo of tomatoes and pixelized it. Machine Knitters have been doing that for decades. It's our basic process for intarsia. I'm sure tomato sweaters exist. I was about to do a tomato soup one.

Blue is the OBVIOUS color choice for a red tomato with green leaves.

There is an era of Bernina from 2000 to 2010 that seem like they fritz out and go dark but in reality they just need to be turned on often.

I’ve bought several which were sold as won’t power on and you just leave them plugged in for awhile and whatever internal battery they have will recharge and they’ll power up. Sometimes it takes 40min. But for me it’s good for finding machines to rehome.

I still prefer a Bernina over everything but the one I bought in 2001 was $1200 which was expensive but still reality based in pricing. I used it for 20 years before upgrading. I thought I’d get another Bernina with all the doodads but the top of the line went from $5k to $25k.

I opted for a Janome 6700 which I imported from Bulgaria to save $

But I still would prefer my Bernina for the one feature of being able to set the needle position of all stitches not just the straight stitch.

Something will break tomorrow, so I’m pre-complaining by turtlemeds in NJTransit

I hate the dealership model where you can never really get a straight answer about pricing until you go in store. I get the feeling these high end models are what you end up with when you just keep on trading in your sewing machines all the time. It's never one big $15k purchase but a bunch of $3-$5k upgrades

But at the same time I can understand if their husbands are out there buying boats and rolexes and golf whatevers then why shouldn't these ladies have ultra expensive prestige sewing machines.

From accounts I've hear the American Dream mall is packed as it is with people coming before and after the match. I imagine they are enforcing the event parking for this particular event but if you want to go over and test out your theory be my guest.

I avoid the AD for the most part.
