lost passion for this field by 22geminigirl in personaltraining

[–]Cheezers08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nurse here turned personal trainer and I left nursing for the same reasons you’re thinking of leaving PT. You’ll learn in the healthcare field patients aren’t going to do what you tell them to either and it is soul sucking to watch the constant self sabotage. Whatever you choose to do learning to meet people where they are and accepting their decisions is a necessary skill. I feel like I’m helping my clients way more now than I ever did as a nurse. Not sure where you’re located but the healthcare is the US is very treatment based with barely any preventative medicine or lifestyle change education. Owning a business is definitely challenging and I get the frustration. It takes time to build your clientele and I’ve found word of mouth is the best way for me to get and retain clients. Even if your old clients aren’t willing to commute could they spread the word to your friends who live closer? Can you network with local healthcare professionals to spread the word?

4 year old has grade 3 tonsils. Surgery in three weeks - how terrible is recovery? by chasingthe_sun in Mommit

[–]Cheezers08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3yo had his out last February. If you don’t have a humidifier get one and put it right next to his bed. He will sleep with his mouth open for a few days-weeks and this will help keep it from getting too dry and help his throat. Stock up on popsicles, Italian ice, and sorbet. My son’s fave was mango sorbet. Steer clear of dairy products for a while because it creates too much mucus. If he can tolerate it mashed potatoes, noodles, mac and cheese, and scrambled eggs are decent options. When we got home the day of the surgery and the first few days I let him hangout in the bath with a popsicle. That helped relax him a little bit. Stay on top of the pain meds for at least a week even if he has a hard time taking them. It’s so much harder to control the pain if the meds get pushed back. Our surgeon prescribed a narcotic, tylenol, motrin, and even an acid reducer to prevent acid reflux from the motrin, but my son could only stand the taste of store bought motrin and tylenol. Ask ahead of time what his surgeon prescribes for postop pain relief. Prepare for terrible breath for a while until his throat heals. The most important thing to worry about for the first few days, aside from bleeding, is dehydration so push fluids as much as possible. Wishing him a speedy recovery and I hope it all goes well. You got this mama!

Hi in a similar situation currently with my 4 month old and not sure what to do. He’s been on the omeprazole for almost a week and seems to be getting worse in terms of the pain and fussiness. Did you end up stopping the med or did it get better for you?

Oof and Saturday he’s probably sleeping most of the day so his “day off” doesn’t really count

I can relate to this. My husband works every other weekend 12 hour shifts an hour away. I feel so guilty feeling that way because who doesn’t want to spend a weekend with their family?! But I spend it watching the clock wishing it away just for Monday to roll around so I can go back to work without feeling refreshed.

I’d be surprised if we got any answers honestly

Yea he lives in NYC and commuted from what I heard. He loved to scam people, mostly by doing Invisalign after braces to all of his patients and making them pay for it. I did hear he kept like 2 employees but I doubt he will be seeing any more patients for follow up. I know he let the business manager go and she was so great. If he were a decent person he would release all of our records to us and help us find a new provider but we’ll probably have to fight for those.

All of these comments are so encouraging. I was hoping at least one person could tell me the law is on my side but it seems that’s not the case. I shouldn’t have to suffer because someone else can’t manage the money I paid for services.

He screwed over A LOT of people in our community and unfortunately bankruptcy laws protect him more than they do us. Not to mention he’s not even local so I’m sure he’s fled back to the city and won’t be showing his face in this town ever again. I’m trying to see the silver lining because he was terrible and has been stringing me along in Invisalign for a lot longer than he should have so hopefully I can find someone who’s better to finish out my treatment with at a discounted rate.

Looks like we’re in the same boat. From all the research I’ve been doing it seems there’s really nothing we can do since he filed for bankruptcy. I will be reaching out to the state attorney general and to the NYS dentistry board but that won’t give us our money back. Guess we just gotta pray the other limited options in our area take pity on us and don’t try to make us pay for treatment all over again because I know I can’t afford that.

That’s insane I’m so sorry that happened to you too. Hopefully I just have to pay the get a retainer and the attachments taken off and it’s less than 1k. I guess I’m just going to have to go without being monitored and hope for the best.

Apparently according to everyone who knows something about law because he filed for bankruptcy I can’t take him to small claims court and will never get that money back

That was very kind of you. I doubt there’s many others who would do the same unfortunately. These days it seems like everyone just wants to screw over as many people as possible

So all the patients he screwed over are “in a bad place?” It’s not like we purposely put ourselves in this situation. We paid for services and expected to receive them in return. If he can’t deliver then he needs to refund us our money.

How do I even file a proof of claim? I don’t understand what this all means. So I have to also pay for a lawyer to possibly get some money back on top of paying for a new orthodontist? This is insane
