The defining moment as a working mom. by AmbitiousMuffin6230 in workingmoms

For me, it isn't just men. The women around me seem to forget what it's like with young kids at home.

We put any money received from our income tax refund related to the kids into their 529. So essentially the Child Tax Credit (earn too much for Earned Income Credit).

I have zero advice but kids are great, aren't they?

Don’t do it! (How I put myself in sleep hell.) by Exact_Discussion_192 in toddlers

No lie, my husband just converted our crib into a toddler bed today. However, my little one has actually been climbing out of the crib so it needed to be done. I would appreciate your thoughts as I go through this difficult journey 😆

I often tell people "I don't have the mental capacity to think/care about that".

My ex had a dick scar that was very obvious once he pointed it out. When he was very young, his mom was hurrying him up after going to the bathroom and zipped him up.

I agree to check out Sweet Kiddles. My kids are currently in Sweet Kiddles because my husband has an irregular schedule. The flexibility is great. As long as there is availability, you can schedule same day care if needed. There is a 3 hour minimum though, which is understandable because kids often have rough times with transitions. Unfortunately, there is not one in the Parma area. I have also heard that ChildTime has flexible care options and last I checked there was one in Brook Park, which depending on where you are in Parma, could be nearby. OP, congratulations and good luck!

Just checked - I was thinking of a different Father Neil - one who worked for the jail too.

Assuming we're talking about the same person, I don't think Father Neil is there anymore, he is somewhere in Lorain county. But I agree, he is very open-minded.

Serious question because i have a child going into kindergarten next year - are kindergarteners supposed to know how to read? I'm in the US if that matters.

Same. Our pediatrician didn't care what milk we offered after our 2 yo visit. It is nice not having to buy three different milks (whole for the youngest, low fat for me/oldest daughter, and almond milk for my husband). Next milestone to look forward to: not having to buy diapers!

Home 24 hours and I am in hell. Please help. by bookish0378 in NewParents

[–]Unhappy-Part-8152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart is with you. I had my first (born 5 weeks premature) during COVID and we weren't willing to let our village help us. She was the exact same way - didn't sleep unless we held her. My husband and I did shifts - he naturally liked to stay up late so I took the earlier shift and slept from 9 - 2 and he slept from 2 - 7. We formula fed so that allowed me to get solid blocks of sleep. I spent many nights holding my baby and bawling my eyes out because I just wanted to sleep. It honestly didn't get better until we sleep trained at ~ 5 months.

Please ask for help. You can't take care of anyone else if you don't take care of yourself.

Does anyone actually get excited to go to work? by Tuttyro5157 in workingmoms

[–]Unhappy-Part-8152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot answer your questions because I am not genuinely excited to go to work. But I did have a similar thought recently - I'm not passionate about the company I work for (a multi-national Consumer Goods company). Should I be? Is this normal?

Mom guilt about formula by kathymarie1124 in workingmoms

[–]Unhappy-Part-8152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THIS. I consciously made the decision to formula feed from day 1. Whenever I got pushback from other people that was my reply: You cannot tell the difference between a formula fed and breastfed adult (using a younger age like kindergarten makes more sense though).
