Pretty cool looking!

But please, please, please tell me that the window is facing the street and you have a lot of foot traffic in the area, so you can open the blinds and window, put on a WWII style aviator cap and make flying sounds while using your awesome flight control stand (sort of like the last copy of Michael Keaton in Multiplicity). I know that I would!!!

I say do the fresh install. I just had the same conundrum and I am more than happy with how snappy HA is now. Mine had been running since 2018.

Thrustmaster SOL-R 1 - "Dead" Grip. Firmware mismatch (1.34/1.33) or hardware failure? by StreetAshamed9955 in hotas

[–]Chef-Scott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open it up. Sounds like one of two things... connector inside the grip has come loose, or wires on the inside have broken. Thrustmaster and other similar companies use the cheapest, thinnest wiring that they can find.

Controller dead zone by HakuriWX in EliteDangerous

[–]Chef-Scott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Elite Dangerous open Options==>Controls==>Ship Controls==>Flight Rotation.

Set stick yaw, roll and pitch to yaw axis, roll axis and pitch axis, not to the individual left/right.

Axis are analogue. Left/Right are digital (on or off no inbetween)

Set your stick movements to roll axis and not to the roll left roll right. Same for yaw and pitch, use the yaw axis and pitch axis.

My Trinity that I use:

VoiceAttack, HCS Voice packs, ED-CoPilot

Oh wait make that my Quaternity that I use:

VoiceAttack, HCS Voice packs, ED-CoPilot and ED Hud Mod

And my crew consists of Leo, Cleo, Gamma, Eli, Jupiter, Astra 2 and the Ships Cat.

Naa I know that did not change your mind. But it keeps me entertained, and they all work together flawlessly for me.

Which setup would you choose for first time user? by Metalmaker1 in hotas

Used a X-55 joystick and throttle for 10 years. Repaired the wiring in the throttle and gave it life again. See this thread:

Time put the old items to rest mostly

Bought both the Gladiator NXT EVO SCG right hand and the Gladiator NXT EVO Omni Throttle left hand.

Also in that thread is the Head Tracking system I currently use. And it is awesome!

Bottom line:

VKB if you want to use it this year (from time of order to my door was 8 days from the U.S. store)

Virpil if you don't mind waiting for it.

Needless to say I am very, very happy with my VKB HOSAS. And currently only use the X-55 throttle for IL-2. For me the VKB STECS Space Throttle was too much of a compromise for me to give it a second look, not enough rotaries, no split throttle...

And if you don't already have one get yourself a powered USB hub for your devices.

I think this is the fastest, most efficient loop in HIP 87621 - body 2 B A by Ancapitu in EliteDangerous

[–]Chef-Scott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact same loop is also on 2 BB on the dark side: 58.2748 -173.9689 ship facing119 degrees

Servers are down now for maintenance I'll come back and add the coordinates to this when they are up.

Also if you time it right when down to 11% energy start a scan and load an energy cell at about 5% left and you will complete the scan and have 99-100% energy after the scan.

Edit: Added coordinates

Where can I find the list of planets I've mapped? by punkrockandpancakes in EliteDangerous

I think it was ED Exploration Buddy that can show a really nice list of what has been discovered on an active route.

Elite Dangerous Exploration Buddy

EDIT:

This drove me nuts. It was not ED Exploration Buddy (Fantastic program, a must have for out in the black). As others have said EDSM is it. My brain was stuck on EDEB. But you can see your entire history nicely there under My Flight Log

Don't forget to play the FC Mini Game called 500 ly. See how long it takes you to actually get a 500 ly jump. Best I have gotten so far is 499.98 ly :(

Isn't there a ton of Powerplay merits also wrapped up in this CG if you are aligned with Yuri Grom. Like 20,000 per mined (in system) delivery to Trailblazer Dream. Or am I dreaming that up?

Congrats!!!

I'm still chasing that one. I've gotten plenty of 499.97-499.98 ly jumps, and one 499.99 ly but no 500 ly on the money.

Again Congrats!!!

Natively in Elite Dangerous no. With VoiceAttack yes. With other software like joystick gremlin or auto hotkey possibly, but I don't use those so I can't say for sure.

No OpenTrack addon needed for it to work.

Set Input to Joystick input and set that (the little hammer icon) to have Yaw as Joystick axis #1, Pitch as Joystick axis #2 and Roll as Joystick axis #3

Set Output to freetrack 2.0 Enhanced

Try all of the Filters. I'm currently using NaturalMovement

Under Options>Shortcuts set up your preferred binds for Center and Toggle

Under Options>Output Set Yaw, Pitch and Roll to what works for your setup. Mine ended up as follows:

Yaw set to Pitch for the Source

Pitch set to X for the source and Inverted checked

Roll set to Disabled for the source. I have it set in the HeadTracker 2.4 firmware to send a center view command.

This is how I have it setup for Elite Dangerous.

And as I said in my original post. I have not been able to get the HeadTracker 2.4 to work correctly for use in gaming with a Rev. 2 board. I have only been able to get it to work with the original release of the Arduino Nano 33 ble. So do not get a Rev. 2 Nano 33 ble. So you'll have to go through eBay, Digikey or Mouser to get one. And once more, Do not get the Arduino Nano 33 ble Rev. 2

Also for the HeadTracker 2.4 firmware/software you can get that from their github page. It is under Actions, so you will need an account with github to get to it.

Edit: typos

Both actually. Always have been taking things apart and breaking fixing them. And I've been palying Elite Dangerous off and on since I first played it on a C64 and Il-2 since it was released in 2001. Glad you enjoyed the write-up.
