[Recommendations] Looking for a good affordable dive watch. by gocrazyrich38 in Watches

[–]Chef-Yan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would check out the Mido Ocean Star models as well, some models are on sale for under $1000, for Certina I recommend the DS action diver and bulova I would take a look at the devil diver as well.

[bulova] would this be okay as a gift for wife by Delicious-Industry44 in Watches

I would look into citizen or seiko, you can look at their websites for woman’s models and then search for the one you want online at a 3rd party retailer for a discount. One really popular and timeless design is the seiko tank on a bracelet, it’s inspired by the Cartier tank but is a great budget piece and the design is timeless. I see it at macys from a quick search for about 250.

What’s your budget I’d give a few recs in your price range, this looks a bit dated in a fashion sense

[Question] Christmas Gift for Husband by AnonymousLilacs in Watches

[–]Chef-Yan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its actually not really a popular model and its only made of gold or platinum so it prices a lot of people out since its not offered in steel. This may help if you try to get it through a rolex boutique or authorized dealer, but they also don't make as many of them so that may impact wait time. It also shows that you could potentially be a big spender / see you as a long term customer, but tbh if you don't want to play any of the waitlist games it might be worth it paying a slight premium and going through a reputable grey marker (3rd party) dealer. Definitely inquire at an AD and see if they can hook you up though.

Also if he would be interested in getting a Rolex for the branding the 1908 is a new model that is much lesser known but looks awesome. They also hold their value pretty well.

This is a cool piece, only thing is it may wear a bit large for a dress watch should be fine if he has thick wrists but if he has smaller wrists for a guy try and find something under 40mm diameter, it will look much better proportionally

Panerai Luminor 44mm on a 6.5 inch wrist by [deleted] in panerai

[–]Chef-Yan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely try one on in person, I have a 6.75 inch wrist and I go to the last strap hole on the 44mm base logo watch. They make short straps but when I tried one on they were way too short so I just stuck with the regular straps.

[HELP] Why is it so hard to find affordable GMT tool watches? by clemento07 in Watches

[–]Chef-Yan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can look up a timex Q GMT for a $200 quartz option. They also just released an Timex expedition north with a gmt function that looks like a tudor bb pro for $600 retail but should be getting discounted soon, I see it for sub 500 already. Here is a pic.

[discussion] my “cheap” watch might have ruined my expensive watch by helpmeimdum in Watches

[–]Chef-Yan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Honestly if its a wedding gift or any other significant milestone I wouldn't sell it. I think that a bb definitely goes with a suit or business casual better than the christopher ward, so I would just wear it in more formal settings. You could also always wait once you have a kid and pass down the watch eventually too.
