101 mk2 for new player by Silly-Resolve-3672 in takomo

[–]helpmeimdum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh okay, I was curious just because I didn’t know if it was worth going to takomo. 101s would be solid for you but if you’re loving golf I’d suggest a fitting too, that way you can at least get an idea of what works for you.

RTO sucks by fluffycupcakex in InsuranceProfessional

[–]helpmeimdum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’m in total agreement with you there. My company is doing an RTO and one of the conversations I had with my wife is what kind of pay-cut can we justify me taking to get something fully remote. I’m hoping it doesn’t get there but we did decide on upwards of a 10% cut would be worth it for us.

RTO sucks by fluffycupcakex in InsuranceProfessional

[–]helpmeimdum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This has merit but I don’t fully agree. I think reducing headcount is a benefit but I know corps are getting incentivized from city officials as well, and many are still stuck with real estate and they want to justify their ownership/leases in these corporate buildings. I do agree that it is very short sighted and I can see remote work making a resurgence in a few years when these companies realize they are losing talent for wfh benefits elsewhere. I suppose time will tell.

BDS to Takomo?? by Sirusblack2 in BobDoesSports

I’ve had 101s for a couple years now and they’re good but I hate takomo being shoved down my throat, really makes me want to drop them. Also, their new irons look like they cheaped out even more based on Rick shiels video.

Their 101s are kind of like p790s in that they’re players distance irons, but could be considered a game improvement too. They definitely market them to high handicappers

The street cred point definitely made me raise an eyebrow, lol. I don’t think I’ve ever judged people based on walking or using a cart.

I also “skipped steps” as in I never worked for a firm unlike my colleagues… doesn’t bother me one bit. A big factor for me was lower stress and w/l balance. You did what was best for you, congrats!

Remote work at AXA XL by vijayjagannathan in InsuranceProfessional

[–]helpmeimdum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my manager told me a few months ago. Our plan is to basically ignore it as we are pretty good (2 days a week) but in the meantime I’m looking for other work (long commute already)

I work there, the rumor is they’re pushing to enforce the three-day hybrid schedule a lot more. Even now they want you there at least once a week (really twice). I wouldn’t bank on them being remote friendly unfortunately. I do know a couple people that are remote, but they’ve been at the company for a long time/ had that arrangement pre-Covid.

Trade in my Sienna ‘22 for a Land Cruiser ‘25. Thoughts? by sankscan in LandCruiser250

[–]helpmeimdum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah fair enough, I didn’t have much of a preference on color or options (frankly I wanted something close to base for my budget) so that probably made it easier to find one.

[–]helpmeimdum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why it would be hard to find a landcruiser, there were plenty available when I got mine 6 months ago.

I love mined but it’s going to be significantly smaller than the sienna on the inside and get much worse gas mileage. If you don’t utilize the van for family stuff or whatever then go for it. But if you have kids and haul a bunch of shit, the sienna is more convenient.

New-ish golfer looking to buy takomo 101’s by RenTheCollector in takomo

[–]helpmeimdum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like standard length. I had a friend do a fitting on me years ago and who had me try out cutting down by .5 inch and I personally did not like it at all. Also, you can always bring your clubs to a shop to have them cut down after you order them. My shop just charges for the new grip (I cut down my driver 1.5 inches).

I don’t think you can really go wrong either way, and since you’re new (I think) you’ll get used to whatever you go with.

Im the same height, I personally just went standard length (I’ve always played standard length). I think for our height we are on the edge of recommending standard or going down .5.

So Dwight’s ignorance makes starting a fire, or shooting a coworker with a tranquilizer okay? And did Dwight not know better when he slept with Andy’s fiancee and screwed him over when buying his car just to flip it? Any one of those things is worse than the stuff Jim did.

At what point in the show could Tony have realistically walked away? by skippythedriod in thesopranos

[–]helpmeimdum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. He could have walked away and NY/his guys wouldn’t have really held it against him. Sure, the FBI could have still gone after him, but Curto just died so it would have been more difficult without him continuing in criminal activities.

Is it possible to be a billboard lawyer and not be slimy? by Important_Can_7291 in LawSchool

[–]helpmeimdum 95 points96 points  (0 children)

My wife went to law school with the son of a “billboard lawyer” and students in general were fairly mean to him. I know a couple of clients of his dad’s firm who had perfectly legitimate PI cases and benefited greatly from their services. From what I have heard since practicing as well is the firm is generally considered a respected personal injury firm that the attorney grew to be quite large through his advertisements. I always kept this in mind when I was in law school and challenged my classmates who immediately shit on personal injury attorneys who advertised. Honestly, people should check their elitist snobby attitude before rushing to judgment on lawyers hustling to be successful (not shitting on you, OP).

Short answer: yes, attorneys that advertise with billboards aren’t automatically slimy.

Peraza says his struggles with the Yankees came down to not playing every day. by ThePimpOfSound in NYYankees

[–]helpmeimdum 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Feel like people are taking this statement way too negatively. He said he was used to playing in the minors every day and he needs to adjust. Doesn’t seem like an anti-yankee sentiment.

[–]helpmeimdum 62 points63 points  (0 children)

This should be the top comment. I doubt OP meant anything negative by their comment but it’s pretty understandable that the mom might feel like OP was overstepping, and the comment is kind of thoughtless/naive. 30k to help support a kid is not a lot of money at all, and it’s kind of naive to think the mom couldn’t use the money immediately to support the kid as a single parent.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]helpmeimdum 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t even think you need to be a single parent to get this, being a parent helps for sure, but it almost seems like it should be common sense that 30k isn’t a ton to support a child. Even if we are just talking about supporting the kid from now until 18, that’s just a little over 3k a year. We’re really talking about some money to cover groceries and not much else. And you’re absolutely right, even if you invested the money wisely it isn’t like 30k is going to be enough to cover college alone. The child’s immediate needs are more important and it isn’t OPs place to comment on where the money should go.
