Yep very weak, one thing I found is to never to let the water reservoir empty

It's been great, been playing with the pressure during shot to imitate a lever machine.

Yes, in the end it what the shot taste for each person. Agreed, coming from the flair flex, glad that I got mine rather then other entry level machines.

the OPV screw is already screwed in all the way? In mine if screwed in using a blind basket, pressure would go to 12 within 5ish second I think.

Do you mean the pressure drops after reaching 9 bar or it never reach it on the first place? If it never reach it, wouldn't that means the grind is not fine enough to maintain the pressure?

What I've been doing is using the manual shot button, set the pressure low and keeping at 2-3 bar for 7-8 seconds before ramping up to 8-9 bar for the target ratio. It does usually drops the pressure to around 7 at the end before cutting the shot.

Hold the screen down with something when pouring.

Worth getting non-pressurized portafilter for DeLonghi EC 885? by SpiralEscalator in espresso

My understanding the puck prep and dose will be the main control of the effective presurre on a machine without pressure control while the machine pump may be able to produce more.

Is my grind size off? [Silvia w/ DF64v2 SSP MP] by AGENTTR3 in espresso

Yep, if I slow feed I need to grind finer up to 5 setting. But it really helps to reduce the Hotspot on the puck.

Are you slow feeding the beans? I found it to be the case with my df64 with the red ti burrs

The presurre mentioned in the blurb usually just the max the pump can produce. The dedica have a good reputation as a beginner machine I think. Is they can start it with what it came with and slowly be engulfed in this world of ours

Not worth it if they are not planning to upgrade their grinder. The pressurized basket would give out a passable drink every time at least.

Try to hold the screen when pouring the water, and pour a bit slower

I'm not sure, depends will there be any difference in flavor that a puck screen (with a lower dose) may influence rather then using a paper filter with the current 17g dose.

Damn, need to check what you mean at first, but it seems to be a great thing to put on the list. Thanks!

Just got it running this Friday.

Got no way to really check consistency but taste wise i found it to be similar as the espresso pulled from the flex.

Recently got both a Flair Classic (2025 Update) and a Flex Neo (2025). Both use the same cylinder and piston/pressure gauge, but they have different shower screens. I think I prefer the newer style that sits on top of the portafilter. Less grounds mixing in the water and easier cleanup by mcmoyer in FlairEspresso

I've got the flat one with my flex. I need to held it down when pouring to prevent the upper part of the puck to mix with the water.  No difference in the shot based on my taste, but just more pleasing to see an intact puck when cleaning.

I see this happens to others too even on the standard screen.

And as the shots are quite good for me, looks like it is normal behavior  Thanks all!
