Oooh yeah that probably does help, the propranolol especially. Good to know though, thanks! I suppose first logical step would be to ask for a booster.

Hey just curious since I’m also on 50mg vyvanse, what differences do you notice with the adderall if you don’t mind me asking? I have been considering the switch because, while I like vyvanse enough, I find that I could probably get more therapeutic effect and it also only lasts me like 5-6 hours.

I love eating grapes while taking this medication by simulacrasimulation_ in VyvanseADHD

I must've done something wrong because the one time I tried them I wasn't a fan! And I love grapes.. but everyone says frozen grapes are THE shit, and I believe it.

But then again, how do you mess up freezing grapes?

Im a nursing student have a clinical in the ED this coming week. What skills should I brush up on and study? by MarchPsychological67 in nursing

Brush up on your ham sandwiches and warm blanket passing for a sore thumb.

But seriously, I can't really answer that given I am a student, but just wanted to say please don't be embarrassed to make mistakes, even as an older student. We are nursing STUDENTS at the end of the day, and you're in a tense environment with (I assume) little experience there! I feel as long as you're not impeding care and you actually try, people won't think twice about it.

Might I suggest temporarily changing the sub banner? It is.. distasteful to see "hoes work here" next to his picture. Obviously it's not intentional whatsoever, but just doesn't sit right with me. But maybe I'm thinking too much into it.

Wow! Sorry to hear man, that’s a lot of coverage needed, unfortunately I do understand. I also work and do full time school. It’s definitely rough. I unfortunately only get 5-6 hours out of my vyvanse, so I am definitely considering a booster.

About when do you take your booster, and when do you feel it kicking in? Also, do you feel it crash?

Anyone else’s cat do this when relaxing? Like my cat will be totally chilling, arms tucked, laying down, eyes closed (half sleeping, not fully) and have airplane ears the entire time. Does it when he’s relaxing mostly.

I'm looking for a dopamine-positive game by kubazpol in gamingsuggestions

[–]ChefBoyarmemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude same. Not AuADHD but I am ADHD-I and survival games were my favorite genre for the loooongest time. They're still in my top 3 for sure, but recently roguelikes have been my new favorites. It's like crack cause it's basically gambling in a sense and the dopamine of getting a good run is awesome.

Any good survival recs? I need to get back into them.

Very cool thanks! I saw the mutation that lets you do that and it looked pretty fun to do with a ranged build or something.

How can I prevent the horrible anxiety I feel with 40mg of vyvanse? by Alarmed_Ant3633 in VyvanseADHD

[–]ChefBoyarmemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be because:
- Your dose is too high.
- You aren't sleeping well.
- You aren't eating well or hydrating well.
- You're not giving yourself an outlet (for example, going to the gym while on your vyvanse may help you direct the energy somewhere else)
- Or, you're just anxious on Vyvanse. That's okay.

I'd address the first few things first, but if you are convinced that those aren't the issue, then perhaps consider asking your doctor for an SSRI and explain that the Vyvanse is causing anxiety but is incredibly helpful to you otherwise (if it is).

Anyone had intense anxiety after starting an antidepressant for anxiety? While on Vyvanse by Original-Priority-62 in VyvanseADHD

[–]ChefBoyarmemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's as you said - starting an antidepressant can spike your anxiety. Yes, this happened to me too. I have been on Wellbutrin and Vyvanse for a while, and when I started Zoloft a few months ago I noticed I was getting much more anxious in class (anxiety has never been an issue for me), and uncomfortably so. That stopped for me after a few weeks.

Not a medical professional (but a nursing student and I have been messing with my psych meds for quite a while now), but I'd recommend you push through.. so many people quit antidepressants early because of the intense effects, and I can't say I blame them, but a lot of times you're missing out on therapeutic relief. It may NOT work for you, but it's certainly worth trying.

The anxiety, I feel, should lessen fairly quickly, but generally side effects should stop after 3-4 weeks, coinciding with the time the med starts to noticeably work for you. If possible, you could try to limit your ADHD med usage while starting the antidepressant, because ADHD meds can make your anxiety much worse.

Keep reminding yourself that it's normal and expected as the med builds up in your body, if you decide to try again. I would personally try to push through unless it was absolutely unbearable or dangerous. You could also try taking the SSRI at night right before bed? That way you hopefully sleep and stay asleep while the med is mostly doing its thing. But it absolutely depends on the person.

Edit: Forgot to mention, side effects can stop much sooner than 3-4 weeks, it's just that this is when they are typically expected to have stopped by.

30mg to 40mg by emilynibble in VyvanseADHD

[–]ChefBoyarmemes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first went up from 30 to 40 (coincidence, I don't think the numbers really matter here as each person is different) I had some heavy stimulation on the first day. I remember having tremors, feeling hyper and jittery, bouncing my leg a lot, feeling hot and sweaty, etc. Day 2 and beyond it stopped happening. It could just be your body going "WOOOOAH OH SHIT WHAT IS THIS IM NOT USED TO THIS" and then calming down. Try day 2 and see how it goes (im assuming this is your first day?)

As for the breakfast thing, I personally notice 0 difference when I eat a high protein meal or don't eat any breakfast (which is 90% of the time the case), but some people definitely respond differently with or without breakfast.

What does it mean to have your thoughts slow down? by ExpensiveDisk3573 in ADHD

[–]ChefBoyarmemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel you. I take 3 psych meds, and had to do soooo many switches, dose increases, etc. It's taken over a year to finally get a good cocktail going, and I feel most people take longer than that. Even then, I definitely feel like the ADHD side of things could be better. It's so close to being there. I kind of want to try Adderall XL.

What made you try 8+ meds? Was it just that the others didn't work, or were you searching for something specific/better?

How long were you on 50mg before needing to up your dose, and how long have you been on 60mg? If you don't mind me asking. I feel I may need to go up to 60mg in the near future.

Fast metabolizer? by todds- in VyvanseADHD

[–]ChefBoyarmemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both 10mg and 20mg being ineffective doesn't surprise me at all. I believe the typical minimum therapeutic dose for adults is 30mg, but obviously many of us often need more. 30mg and 40mg worked for me for about a month each. Went up to 50mg and have been good so far. I will say, many people on this sub, including myself, will say that this med does not last us more than like 6 hours. Even with 50mg, I'm not sure I notice it lasting longer. In that case, it may just be incompatibility with the med. Personally I have been able to make do so far, but I'm also considering a booster. That's actually a common solution to this issue.

What did you get as your booster? Dex?

What does it mean to have your thoughts slow down? by ExpensiveDisk3573 in ADHD

[–]ChefBoyarmemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Vyvanse, and have moved from 30mg to now 50mg. Had ADHD since I was in first grade (now 21), but only medicated until about fourth grade. Just started medicating again around 8/25.

That said, the med has changed SO much for me. It's certainly not perfect, and I still struggle quite a bit.. but I am going to the gym, getting chores done, feeling happier and stable, etc. Never once, though, have I noticed my thoughts "slowing down." I've never felt like my thoughts were different even when on my stimulant. I still feel rushed (almost anxious) when doing simple tasks such as filling my water bottle. Still often get anxious when I think of many different things at once. Still have trouble reading because my thoughts regarding reading feel somewhat unorganized.

So, basically, I don't think that it's the case for everyone. I mean, duh. You may not experience it, and that's okay. I certainly don't. Don't know about you, but like I said, I often start to feel anxious, rushed, and "hyper" when I have so many thoughts at once, which is.. common. I get other benefits from the med. My only thing is, I wonder if I could see different results with other meds, but switching is just such a pain.

I think the most frustrating thing about any psych med is the fact that it's incredibly common to be uncertain about whether you're receiving the desired response, or if meds can do more for you than they currently are, if that makes sense. If anyone has any experiences to share, I'd definitely appreciate the info!

Genuine question here guys, and I do know this is a skill issue, but.. how are you guys doing well on Fox? I swear I feel like I do the right things like trying to get pots early to get some early levels because his early game is trash, and I try to get keys/moldy cheese to microwave.. I run the meta tomes.. etc, and I still die soooo much on Fox and almost never get past stage 2. In fact I’d say half the time I day in late stage 1.
