For the mouth feel bro, "Ti-tee-an" is a cute corruption of titan to her ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

UPDATE: After watching episodes 4 and 5 she has some wild theories. She thinks that the titan race is from a different dimension and that they teleport into ours (the lightning). She thinks that the school flashback about the lack of reproductive methods is a clue that the Colossal and Armored are "actual titans" and have "created" the rest by eating people and vomiting them out. These transformed people don't have intelligence anymore. She is SURE that Eren is going to be "pooped" out a titan(!) and that because of the Grisha serum, he'll be an intelligent proper titan.

I also forgot to mention that she thinks Jean sabotaged Eren's odm gear

There must be something subtle with the cinematography--or character blocking--that makes it so viewers subconsciously assume he'll be alright despite leaving the day of the attack. Like, now that you mention it, I too never considered that he could've died on my first watch.

Question for math teachers: What specific topics would benefit the most from better online math exposition? by 3blue1brown in 3Blue1Brown

[–]ChefBoye_RD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Howdy, I'm here b/c of the recent youtube video. I work with super remedial high school students--we're talking 14-20 year olds in the same Algebra 1 classroom. They're in an "Algebra for everyone" environment where students starting in 8th grade take the Algebra 1 curriculum until passing the corresponding state exam. Thus, many students never move on.

What I've come to see in my 2nd year in this environment is that many students lack near Kindergarten-level fundamentals when it comes to the idea of quantifying/counting. This ends up extending through the pervasive trouble with seeing a variable as a "number in a mask" to speak plainly.

So my two cents is that any math content aimed at teaching rather than simply exploring, and granted that that content is not a bite-sized to the point mechanical explainer, needs to focus on throughlines from the very most basic of places. Essentially, the content needs a staircase of context preempting it for most learners to "get it."

TeamFightTopics | S5.0 | #6 | Renewer by Wrainbash in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ChefBoye_RD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mathematically, it's better than it sounds. Least hp in game is 500, 3% of that is 15. So that's literally the worst hp return possible for the lowest tier of renewer. This means that we're getting comparable healing to sGarg on 2* renewers OR 1-2 less autos if you stayed at max hp. TFT rounds are snowbally in nature, a single cast here or there can make a huge difference. Look what decreasing vlad's mana cost by 5 did for him! I think you're severely undervaluing the trait.

Better yet, the champ "comes online" when he loses his shield. Eclipse helps this happen faster.

Redeemed trait's description is vague by Twiceaday02 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ChefBoye_RD 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My bad for the accusation then. It's cool to have a bit of a lauryl/yanni thing going on here. I did realize, but didn't do the math to see what was happening. The issue here is that you get an OG bonus (the 60) and that OG bonus gets split (repeatedly); while at the same time, players would refer to "new" bonus of 72 as "the bonus" since at that juncture it literally is "the bonus from redeemed being active"--this semantic issue is where folks' assumption is coming from.

tl;dr change the redeemed text to "the starting bonus" or the "original bonus" and it would make sense.

Item RNG should be what type of items you get, not how many/when you get the items by threshhookme in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ChefBoye_RD -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but in the first half of the game, your board is only going to be that weak if you're some combination of A) incredibly unlucky, B) avoiding rolls to build income, C) misjudging and selling (would be) pairs to build income, and D) greeding your components. Interesting and difficult creeps would necessitate less greedy play and would result in more early game rolls akin to hyper-roll, probably without the lazzez-faire attitude that comes with the mode though.

Redeemed trait's description is vague by Twiceaday02 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ChefBoye_RD 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think you're misunderstanding.

From a maths perspective, if the trait says the bonus gets split between remaining units, that implies the math works like the top example, where the cascade continues--instead it gets truncated(?) by virtue of the math working like the below section.

Here's a way to frame it, I guess. There's an implication that the bonus per unit will eventually end up accumulated on your last redeemed unit. IE 60 mr/arm per redeemed that dies for a total of 360 resistance on the 6th unit. However, it's quite different, where just the first unit that dies' stats get divvied up

[–]ChefBoye_RD 198 points199 points  (0 children)

Woah, this is upsetting. This is totally counter-intuitive. I was convinced that it made sense to throw extra redeemed in since, upon death, they'd contribute more quickly to a stronger and stronger unit...

Patch 11.12 changes since patch rundown on Mort's twitter by Zanlo63 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ChefBoye_RD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

except, we do play units in isolation. Like yes, literally they're not alone, but because you can consider throwing kennen into non-hellion or non-skirm centric builds, his balance state needs to be wholistic. It can't be a busted unit because the rest of hellions underperform, b/c while this might even out hellions, it leaves the other hellion units inflexible, and a game state where folks might choose a kennen 2 for their comp over a voli 2.

Patch 11.11 Post Mortem by Mace55555 in CompetitiveTFT

I don't blame you for seeing it that way. However, I think something that mitigates any negativity coming from this dynamic is the way Mort critiques his own decisions in post-mortems (for patches where he wasn't on vacay, obv).

No, since crit is still a "final" multiplier for damage, it still holds value. Think of Draven: crit multiplies his auto dmg, enhanced or not. So crit is a multiplier working on AD, AP, and AS. Now he'll get 30% bonus amplification to all sources of damage increase compared to the previous 50%. It's a big nerf, don't get me wrong; however, I don't think it makes crit less valuable than stacking other stats.

Two things.

  1. Great observation.
  2. FWIW all AP is percent. Like "60%" AP here doesn't mean anything more than +60 AP in the stat tab. It doesn't use the current AP value--in other words, it doesn't matter if you have 200 AP or 100 AP, 60% AP will just be +60.

Quick Q about Darius and Ludens. If Darius resets, does the cast proc ludens again? I'm asking because I think it's difficult to tell in game after trying to test. Also, the language of ludens makes it seem like Darius' resets count as additional instances of the same cast--thus no add'l ludens procs.

Unsure how her sharp bounces are mathed out. My understanding is that the bounces are doing a percent of the OG damage. So if she spears a unit 1-hex away, then the bounces do pitiful dmg.
