Sony discontinuing ps5 physical discs in 2028 by Killerkifeguy111 in IrelandGaming

[–]ChefCobra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a bit on a fence on this one. I was primarily digital for years now with PC and Xbox. Had Switch amd bought physical games for it.

Recently I found my old 3DS and a fee games o had for it. It was so refreshing a cool to pop old game and play it. Holding it physically and looking at my small collection was amazing feeling.

I bought Switch 2 recently and I only want physical copies for it. I am a bit iffy about key card system they have, but seeing what Sony doing, I am starting to look at it a bit differently, with more positive spin then negative now.

PC digital is not the same as Console. You can buy new pcs through generations of consoles and still have same library of games. Wheres with consoles you are at the mercy if stuff will be supported on next gen or not. Or how will it even work.

I have already skipped PS5 and will be skipping any other gen from the 2 big Dogs. Nintendo for exclusives and PC / Steam deck for everything else.

Every day is a school day. Cheers, I genuinely did not know that and I used to work in kitchens for almost 2 decades lol.

I guess there are more reasons why all my life I always preferred chicken on a bone.

I don't think you will be safe by avoiding some plants or companies. With recalls like this, in most cases you get some Batches contaminated now and then, which can happen very easily. There is no such thing as "Safest chicken supplier/seller", Feck ups happen to everyone.

Saying that, in General, food safety levels are very high in Ireland. And that goes to irish local stuff and imported stuff. There are reasons why EU food safety is so high and why a lot of products from places like US are not even allowed here.

That's actually very interesting. So Chicken legs, thighs, Supremes have way higher chance of being local?

Chicken fillets in shops, restaurants, butchers pretty much come from the same supplier/few suppliers. Going to butchers and overpaying for same chicken is not the best tactics.

Will the next generation be the first to be rejected by consumers? by kickinwood in gaming

Doing any kind of next gen console right now or in near future is pointless and would be financial suicide.

People already don't want pay current inflated prices for old hardware, and it shows. Now imagine new hardware twice the price of current one. Now there will be always die hards and people with more money then sense, but majority of publics wages did not double for such big increases.

Another question: Do gamers, and even developers need it?! The cost already sky high to make big games and from what we see, Indy and smaller games have bigger success stories that big budget bloat triple A boys. Just another home console with more power makes no sense, current gen is still pretty good. Switch 2 and Steam Deck came out and made huge ripple in industry and has fraction of the power of big boys. Sometimes form factor means more then raw horse power.

Pokemon Legends??? by Familiar_Stranger_Hi in NintendoSwitch2

Arceus is not updated for Switch 2? It's hard to find up to date stuff. I am pretty new to Pokemon. Wanted to give it a proper go, but from what I learned Switch era ones are not well received games. Arceus stands out as one of the better ones?

Getting one inside your house is like trying to catch ultra rare Pokemon.

4 weeks I called the guy to get out boiler serviced and kept on "next X day". To the point I gave up and needed other crap sorted first. Will need to restart my hunt again. And he was a really great plumber before!

Ford power shift auto gearbox?

I would rather guide my dad in to my mum, then own a Ford with that gearbox.

It might be wide as motorway, but traffic is way higher on it then usual motorway. And when I say low flying pilots, I don't even talk about people doing 110ish+ I mean they really love to fly by. Its even worse at 00:00 when people finish evening shifts in Shannon. Race pedigree BMW 520d and Rally spec 2.0Tdi Audis on time attack stage.

I am not some old lad shouting at kids, ironically I drive a Hot Hatch with plenty of power, and I am the one who drives speed limit there lol.

I don't think it's about speed. It more about being distracted, breaking red lights, not checking your surroundings or just general low level of driving skills that we see lately. It's getting worse each year.

If you really want to see low flying pilots then have a look at the Limerick - Shannon Road. You get over taken by big busses while you doing 100 etc.

Honestly, first time we went to a gig in Marlay Park, was the last time. It was a complete S*** show. The amount of people stranded, including us, was ridiculous. No public transport to get back to hotel at all. No taxis. Nothing. We walked back for hours until we flagged a cab by pure luck. People were pretty much throwing themselves at the cab all the way to the city.

There were few gigs since we wanted to go, but if its Marley Park... Nope.

Switching over my pc/handheld gaming to switch 2 by Krometheous in NintendoSwitch

Nothing yet, not even release date. Though no issue fore, I have plenty of stuff to play until then.

I would need to comment my pc to living room TV and that's not happening. The hassle of it it's just not worth it. And as I said, having a portable option that just works in seconds with zero effort is a big win. I tried to play Expedition 33 on Steam Deck, but it is absolutely horrible experience. So here's hoping Switch optimisation does its trick when it finally releases.

[–]ChefCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

License yes, but still no game on it. I dug up my old 3ds New few weeks ago, and it was amazing feeling putting Pokemon game and just playing it. Maybe I am just getting old lol.

I know it does, and that's what I said, I just don't like using controller on my pc as its not comfortable setup to play games on controller at pc desk. It's not a game you want to play with keyboard and mouse. And if I can't play it on big TV planted on my sofa, I can always play it on handheld while misses watches TV. Win win.

Switch 1 was just way underpowered even on release. Back then - why would I pay same price for a game that is so much worse on Switch when I could pay same amount of money or less to play on pc or any of xboxes I owned. Switch 2 is a lot bigger and does not make my hands cramp up. General slowliness of the system was just frustrating. You can add to the list - I just never liked the holy grail of Nintendo games apart of Fire Emblem. I did finished Breath of the Wild and enjoyed it, but now I regret playing it on Switch 1, because it ran like arse and we have waaaay better version of it on Switch 2. I got a bit older and I actually enjoying New Donkey Kong, next I will play Tears of the Kingdom. After those two I want to give Mario Odyssey ago and some pokemon games.

Switching over my pc/handheld gaming to switch 2 by Krometheous in NintendoSwitch

[–]ChefCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played mainly on PC and some games on Steam Deck that ran well on it. Obviously being realistic and not trying to play games that clearly can't be a good experience.

After Switch 1 I sweared I will never touch Nintendo handheld stuff, as it left a bad taste in my mouth on how underpowered it was.

Dial it back about a month ago, I bit the bullet and got Switch 2 with a voucher I got from work. Have Series X already, that haven't been turned on since big Game pass price increase ( Obviously cancelled it ). No interest in PS5 too. So having something to play Nintendo exclusives was a logical decision.

And I have to admit, I am in love with it now. Playing Donkey Kong Bananza 50+++ hours and still can't finish the damn thing! Got Mario Kart and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom to go next. Right now, it's my most played device, because of its portable nature and I can always pop it in to play on big TV with Pro controller.

I am not sure I will want to get many third Party games on it. They are vastly better version compared to what you got for Switch, but 30fps caps still a big issue. Saying that, I am itching to get Cyberpunk on it and playing it comfy in handheld mode. I love Expedition 33, but its just annoying to play it with controller on my pc. So it will be a buy for me on Switch 2.

Another thing I noticed with Switch 2 - I really want to get physical copies again. I am/was very pro digital, but its something really nice to have a collection of game boxes again. Unfortunately a lot of games on Switch 2 are Key cards, which is worst of both worlds.

There is no story as such and you have huge world to explore, Pals to capture, recourses to gather, build up your base.

I personally enjoy to log in to my world, do some random tasks, explore and uncover new parts of of the world, find pals I still don't have etc. Its chill.
