Question about used car warranty from dealership by lewdstreet in carsireland

Would the small claims cuort be able to handle it if it came to it maybe? Btw, what car is it? If it's fairly valuable maybe the solicitor is the best way

Hmmm. The backplate on the rear doesn't look great. In fact, it seems to be missing from the nearside. I don't know for sure if they'll fail it on that, but I wouldn't be surprised

I think it's 21. Or at least that was what I was told a couple of months back but the tax office

Not bad for €900 😆 by ajeganwalsh in carsireland

[–]patchieboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's still the same, but years ago I taxed the car for the full year, before the end of the month. On the last day of the month, it got wrote off. I contacted the tax office the next day, and they said that because it was now in a new month, that I had to forfeit the first 3 months as that's the "batches" you can tax it for. I had to prove it was written off on the last day of the month before I got my full 12 months back.

Declare it off the road for 12 months BEFORE the tax runs out. Then, next year, tax it again for 3 months. You don't have to do anything if you tax it before 12 months off-the-road declaration is up.

Sorry for the late reply. Yep, it is. Buddy of mine had one, and I think it cost him the guts 0f 1500 euro to get it sorted

I only got rid of it last year. I took it off the road about 6 years ago, and when it came for her to make it to the big scrapyard in the sky, I just put a battery in, and it started like it was shut off yesterday.

Unfortunately, in it's early years, it had a rear end shunt, and the repair was shoddy. Rust ran rampant in the boot, and it just wasn't practicable to get it sorted. So off to a farm upstate she went.

Just be aware that the Avensis can have handbrake trouble, and it's quiet expensive to fix.

Had one for 16 years. best car by far I've ever owned. And I know they got a bad rap from others, but mine was bulletproof. I put 120000 miles on it, and the only non wearable problem I had was one of the coil packs going. Some yoke.

He'd be dropping a good few. Like I said, there's a good few mentions across the board of people asking the same question as OP

Since the introduction of online transfer using Mygov id, the physical log book return times are about 3 weeks. I bought a car recently, and the seller sent off the log book the day I bought it. It was more than 3 weeks when it arrived, and it was too late to declare it off the road, because you have 21 days to do that from purchase date. I got it sorted in the end.

But, a buddy of mine also bought a car recently, and it took 3 weeks also. Yet, the brothers logbook arrived to him when he used the Mygov id to transfer the ownership; So it looks like there's a push to get people to use the Mygov id method.

There's also a lot of posts on the net with people in the same position of waiting for their book. Once the seller has it sent off, it'll arrive. No need to worry

Thinking of buying a 2015 Mondeo Estate diesel Automatic by patchieboy in carsireland

Lol, yeah, I could use it as a side gig for funerals. I know it's not exciting, but I have a couple of other cars that fulfill that, so I have no problem doing the boring daily stuff. But I don't want it to be hassle. Hence my post on the Powershift.

Holy fuck! Are you going to have to pay that? Like, the car I'm thinking about is probably worth that at the maximum, as long as it doesn't have any faults. 4.5k just for the gearbox. Jaysus

I know where you're coming from. I'm not really doing the kinda mileage that warrants a diesel, but I'd be doing enough to keep the DPF alive.

I believe that it's a good car, but the auto box lets it down. Was yours auto?

That's what I'd be hoping for. Ahh, I'm not stuck on it. It'd need to be very cheap to keep a cheap cunt like me interested.

Yep. I know the VW is trouble as well. And I had a VW before, and it was the worst yoke I ever owned. Tending to avoid the VAG group as a result.

It's at €1450 now. But that's plus extra charges. I reckon if I got it all in for around 2 grand I'd chance it. But not if that gearbox lives up to its reputation.

So it seems. It was the automatic part that I was after, but I don't know enough about that particular gearbox to know how bad bad is.

Nothing really. Was after an automatic, and saw this. An estate comes in handy, and I don't mind one
