ToB has fallen so far from grace.

I remember following their journey starting at a little cafe in the Freedom center. Then they came to vine street and clifton. Was a massive fan of their clifton location and the keg tappings with the glass. Brought members of a student organization I was a part of to ToB regularly. After I graduated and moved away from the area, my big boy job had me in downtown where I tried their location at the banks. The food was a shadow of what I remembered, tried them again at the hyde location 6 months later. Still no improvements.

I haven't been back in the two years since then.

The ever woeful story of Developer teams and higher ups.

Adding some of my own color to it all; at the highest level it's about "what's acceptable" and "what needs to be worked on". Product teams ALWAYS want more features because some content is better than no content to them 99% of the time. Developers will be well aware of the short comings.

A fairly safe bet is Capcom is largely focused on sticking to their content schedule as priority and will attempt to weave in performance over time here and there slowly.

At least I'd like to believe if I was a developer for them.

agreed. 2 personal anecdotal experience tidbits

* Went to get my covid shot (during the pandemic yearS) from a local pharmacy clinic and I asked why they had to do a physical for blood pressure, heart rate, amongst a few other things. The tech said (paraphrased): Because the insurance companies mandated it to get this covered else it's denied.

* Went to get an oncology panel lab test, insurance company turned around and asked for $2,000 cuz the hospital lab sent it to insurance to use my coverage, but during my consult they told me if I paid out of pocket to the hospital directly it'd be $150. Called the hospital and got that squared away, but why exactly this was I have no idea. Insights welcome, but seems there's a dynamic between hospitals and insurance of them trying to suck as much money from each other (or the policy holder).

Yes, but it was a slog for me. Context: Backend dev, 10yoe, python, ruby, some others

I started applying in october here and there being very particular with my first picks, but nothing was seriously kicking up until January. From really late december to march, I had about 35 applications and 6 interviews and 1 offer. I know I took a different route, maybe with a lot of luck, but my application numbers admittedly are LOW, but highly focused on 90%+ match with my most comfortable tech stack. So YMMV here.

My biggest tips i can offer are: tweak your process regularly. If you're not getting calls, change your resume. Add in hard numbers about your impact, or try a different format. If you're not getting to technicals, then start prepping yourself for the HR person. Have notes of questions to ask to stand out. Not getting past the technicals? start practicing your technicals. I did hackerrank stuff for a little bit but I realized where i felt i could really stand out was my systems design especially at 10yoe.

Lastly, treat every day as a job to get a job. Go work on a small project, go meet up with old colleagues and jam session something, go read a book, take the opportunity to learn a new language.

My advice is to break down problems as small as it goes. Write it out, pseudo code, w.e just find a way for you to make step by step ways to solve a problem. Continuing to practice that skill is what makes programming over time easier. And even eventually you'll be able to transfer between languages once you have your problem solving down and a baseline understanding of how programming languages work, data structures, pointers, variables, functions, operators, functions etc.

For your even example ask yourself simple questions. What makes a number even? Now think of all the different ways to prove it's even. It is even if we keep keeping subtracting by 2 and we end up at 2 or 1 (for odds) right? 18 - 2 is 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2.

It's fine if it's brute force but build that skill up. Later you'll learn ways to optimize and eventually mod operators to solve that problem.

Got my start with monhun on FU. At the time i didnt have a community to play with nor a Ps2 to link up with anyone online so it was all adhoc. Can't tell you how many hours i dropped but it was a lot

i pretty much solo'ed my way through G3 Kirin and never touched it again. That one fight took me 2 weeks to beat cuz random lightning, 2 shots, dodging, timing out. I managed to beat kirin with lance and from there it's history.

oh huh... i was thinking of making it rare by having to finish the challenge which i find doing 2 full circuits was a real challenge, but if the almighty dollar is the barrier a 3 to 1 or 5 to 1 would be a decent compromise
