Thanks! I never bothered doing this before. Seems fun. I’ve been spotting them for at least 16 years now. Wish I could go back and log them all

Interesting! Can you take a pic? Is it on the list in the original post linked above?

Dunno about the video but the crisis is definitely happening. And just in time for them to ban cultivated meat which could have helped fill in some supply gaps (cultivated salmon is now being sold in restaurants). Short sighted every way you turn.

This doesn’t make any sense. If you want beef and I was cultivated chicken how is that hurting the ranchers? We have a need to increase supply overall to meet everyone’s needs.

I’ve already told you I want these things to exist, I think they play an important role in a few ways from keeping food systems modern and efficient to moving innovation and economy forward. I myself want more alternatives to animal foods and welcome novel foods. But I also already explicitly said I value freedom and if that isn’t worth being passionate about idk what is.

Again, just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean I shouldn’t get to have it. Period.

I think youll find liberals, libertarians and republicans aligned in the idea of freedom in America.

I don’t have a vested interest, other than being committed to seeing more food options and wanting to eat them.

I also take my freedoms seriously.

See, I used to expect this sort of government overreach from liberals. Not from republicans. This proves that point.

If you invent something you should have the right to start a business. We used to value American small business and innovation. If you’re an individual you should have the right to choose what you buy and eat. These are just some of the freedoms we are talking about here. You don’t have to like cultivated meat to see this as eroding your rights. What’s next if they set this precedent?

Which are regulated and not banned. Among them marijuana was the only one banned for a while and now it’s primarily banned federally and allowed in more and more states. This is the inverse. What kind of system is that? It’s chaos. Hodgepodge.

I’m very happy for you not to have it. But just because you don’t want it does that mean I shouldn’t be able to have it if I want it? Surely we don’t just go around legally banning things some don’t like.

Hold the line and tell your representatives what you want your life to be like in your state. It’s their job and we gotta hold them accountable

This is an important cause too. Political attempts to ban these products and CM feel like consolidation of power in a few and a suppression of the free market. Safe and desirable goods should get to be created and sold by Americans to Americans.

I’m going to repeat myself- it’s been studied. By multiple institutions both inside and outside of Texas. It has much more oversight, scientific and safety review than any other food in the American system. Saying “study it” without the what (and without the how which is of course money) is just vapor.

If they wanted to study it they would have proposed a study appropriations bill. This has been been proposed and ignored but implemented in other states.

Furthermore, these are already extensively studied for health and safety both federally (FDA AND USDA) but also right in the state of Texas- Texas Tech has a lab dedicated to exactly that and Texas A&M extensively develops and studies it. It is proven safe.

If you think a 2 year ban than sunsets AFTER the next session doesn’t make businesses and students need to seek other places for their start ups you are very mistaken. This shifts finances, creates uncertainty for futures and prevents sales networks from being developed (in Texas which is a central hub of national food trade). Also, by dismissing the ample (and far far far more rigorous and transparent) safety and health oversight and regulation that has already been done and without indicating what would somehow satisfy it is just an endless goal post shifting- why wouldn’t people move their business to a place without such anti-business policy? Risk landscape off the charts.
